Summary: The XL Kentia Palm brings graceful, arching fronds and tropical elegance to your living room—low-water, easy-care, and perfect for tall ceilings in German flats.
✨ Why You'll Love It
- Striking tropical silhouette with glossy green pinnate leaves that sway gently, adding calm movement to your space.
- Large format: approx. 110 cm tall in a 21 cm pot—makes a statement in entryways, living rooms, or offices.
- Low water needs and easy-care level—resilient to occasional neglect.
- Improves air quality and creates a serene, resort-like feel indoors.
🌞 Light & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light but also tolerates lower light levels—ideal for north- or east-facing European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Low water needs—water when the top 3 cm of soil is dry. Mist occasionally if indoor air gets too dry, especially in heated rooms.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use an airy potting mix with peat or coco coir and perlite. Repot only every 3–4 years or when root-bound to maintain stability.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Non-toxic and pet-safe—safe around cats, dogs, and curious toddlers.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
- Slow but steady growth—adds up to 30 cm per year under ideal conditions and can reach 2–3 m over many years.
- Propagation is uncommon—usually via seed or division; best left to nurseries.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
- Thrives at room temperature; keep above 15 °C—avoid cold drafts during German winters.
- Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer monthly during spring and summer to support lush foliage.
- Wipe fronds to remove dust and maintain airflow around leaves.
🐛 Common Issues
- Browning leaf tips: often due to low humidity or underwatering—adjust misting and watering.
- Pests are rare, but watch for scale insects; treat early if spotted.
🧬 Botanical Background
Howea forsteriana hails from Lord Howe Island in Australia and is prized across Europe for its elegance and resilience. The Kentia Palm has long been a symbol of refined indoor greenery and adapts beautifully to indoor environments.
