Aglaonema 'Cutlass'

Long, tapered blades give Aglaonema 'Cutlass' a slim upright profile that stands apart from broad-leaved Chinese evergreens. The leaves show pale silver-green centres with darker green margins and rise from a compact base.

Each blade is much longer than it is wide, creating a narrow, blade-like outline. As new leaves emerge from the crown, the plant gains height and density while keeping a small footprint.

Cutlass narrow-leaf traits

  • Long lance-shaped leaves with a blade-like outline
  • Pale silver-green central leaf field with darker green margins
  • Upright clumping habit from a compact base
  • Slim upright habit with a small pot footprint
  • Leaf tips that show watering, salt and dryness stress early

Slim blades and upright growth

Aglaonema 'Cutlass' grows from short basal stems, with new leaves emerging upright before angling outward slightly. Side shoots gradually fill the base while the narrow leaves keep the plant upright and narrow.

The Aglaonema genus is native to warm, shaded tropical and subtropical regions across Asia and New Guinea. Indoors, warmth keeps the petioles firm, filtered light reduces scorch, and a draining substrate keeps the compact base from staying wet.

The narrow blade tips show stress early. Consistent watering and low salt build-up reduce the brown tip marks that show quickly on narrow foliage.

Care essentials for Aglaonema 'Cutlass'

  • Light: Medium to bright indirect light keeps the narrow leaves from stretching and reduces scorch on the pale centres. Rotate the pot so new blades do not all lean toward the light.
  • Watering: Water when the top part of the mix has dried and the lower root zone still feels lightly moist. Long dry gaps can show quickly as brown tips.
  • Substrate: Use an airy mix with coco coir or peat-free fibre, fine bark and mineral drainage. The mix needs to stay open around the compact base so petioles do not soften in wet substrate.
  • Drainage: Keep the pot free-draining and remove excess water from cachepots. A wet crown base can soften petioles.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally 18–26 °C. Protect the plant from cold draughts and chilly windowsills.
  • Humidity: Very dry rooms can make the narrow leaf tips brown or crisp faster.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly while new leaves are forming and flush the substrate occasionally, because salt build-up can brown the narrow leaf tips early.
  • Pot choice: Use a stable pot so the upright foliage does not pull the plant over as the crown gains height.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot or the mix compacts. Keep the plant at the same planting depth so the crown base does not sit too deep and soften.
  • Pruning: Remove old or fully damaged leaves at the base with clean scissors. Avoid clipping many tips, as this leaves the crown visibly cut.
  • Temporary outdoor placement: In warm, bright shade with shelter from wind, this plant can spend time outdoors. Bring it back indoors before nights fall below 14 °C.
  • Propagation: Divide mature clumps with separate rooted shoots. Small divisions need warmth, steady light moisture and gentle light so cut roots do not dry before new roots form.

Cutlass tip, petiole and crown checks

  • Brown tips: Check dry intervals, fertiliser strength, mineral build-up and cold water. The narrow leaves show tip stress quickly.
  • Leaning blades: Check light direction and rotate the pot. New growth will angle toward the strongest light direction.
  • Yellow lower leaves: Look for wet lower mix, compacted substrate or a cool root zone.
  • Soft petioles: Inspect the crown base and roots. Firm petioles hold the narrow leaves upright.
  • Fine speckling or dullness: Check leaf undersides and the tight crown for mites, scale or mealybugs.

Aglaonema 'Cutlass' may occasionally produce a small arum-type inflorescence. Remove spent flowers at the base if they crowd the narrow crown.

Cutlass safety note

The leaves and stems of Aglaonema 'Cutlass' contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Plant tissue eaten by pets or people can irritate the mouth, lips, tongue and throat. Keep the plant out of reach and wash hands after cutting leaves or dividing the crown.

Much thicker filter (more surface area), should filter better
Size: (Pack of 1), Size: (Pack of 1)
First filter change at about 28000 miles. Original filter was pretty dirty but OK on intake side. WIX filter is quite a bit thicker but fits my 2016 RAM 5.7L Hemi fine. Also cleaned out the bottom side of the air filter box. The WIX filter is much cheaper than the Mopar and seems to have a similar construction but is much thicker. Assuming the filter media is the same, the WIX should in theory filter and breathe better (more surface area) - but I am no expert so.

Super easy to install, good quality, fits correctly. What more could you ask? A performance gain, you may ask. Ha. This is a gutless 2.4L 4-banger. No performance to begin with, and no gain after installing this. :-)

Honestly I didn’t use it yet but just by inspection it. Looks very good. On thing I have to say is. Amazon did it again. Perfect. The outside box was a little dented and slightly crushed on the corner but the inside box that holds the air filter was perfect. Me being a delivery driver at one time am amazed that the packages always come delivered in perfect condition. I know how easy they can get damaged. Great job Amazon and the drivers and the whse and package dept. great job Update, I just put the air filter in my Honda and it feels faster and more responsive. I will be buying this air filter again. I bought a spearhead air filter for my tundra , and it’s a good filter but I think I am going to switch to a kax filter for two reasons First I said I put it in my Honda and it feels faster and responds quicker. Second. I know it’s not a good reason but I like the color. But I really feel the difference.
