Aglaonema 'Cocomelon'

Aglaonema 'Cocomelon' is a colourful Chinese evergreen grown for broad, glossy leaves with a deep green base, pink vein colour and scattered yellow flecks. The leaves rise from a short central crown, overlap as the plant fills out, and create a rounded indoor plant with colour carried through both the centre and outer parts of the blade.

Mature plants develop visible layers: older leaves build the lower crown, middle leaves often carry the strongest pattern, and new central leaves open softer before the glossy surface firms. The broad blades give this cultivar a full, leafy presence in a pot while keeping the growth habit compact and self-heading.

Aglaonema 'Cocomelon' colour profile

  • Broad glossy leaves with pink midrib and side-vein colour
  • Yellow flecking scattered across a dark green blade surface
  • Self-heading crown with a rounded, leafy outline
  • Compact tropical foliage plant with noticeable width in larger pot sizes
  • New leaves open softer, then firm and deepen as they mature

Glossy leaves and crown development

Aglaonema 'Cocomelon' grows from short basal stems and keeps a compact, self-heading habit. Each new leaf emerges from the centre, unrolls above the older foliage, and gradually adds width to the crown. The broad leaf shape means each new flush changes the plant’s outline noticeably, especially on established plants in larger nursery pots.

The wider Aglaonema genus comes from warm, shaded tropical and subtropical regions across Asia and New Guinea. Indoors, filtered light, steady warmth and a moisture-retentive but aerated root zone keep the broad leaves firm during expansion. For Aglaonema 'Cocomelon', the larger leaves also make dust, mineral marks and pest traces visible early, so regular leaf inspection keeps pest and residue checks easier.

Care essentials for Aglaonema 'Cocomelon'

  • Light: Place in medium to bright indirect light. A filtered position keeps the broad leaves firm and protects the glossy surface from harsh midday sun.
  • Watering: Water when the upper part of the mix has dried and the lower root zone still holds slight moisture. Check pot weight and depth in larger pots.
  • Substrate: Use an airy aroid-style mix with coco coir or peat-free fibre, fine bark and mineral drainage such as perlite, pumice or lava rock.
  • Drainage: Keep the nursery pot free-draining and empty any outer pot after watering. Keep the short crown above stale wet mix.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–26 °C. Protect from cold windowsills, draughts and transport chill.
  • Humidity: Average indoor humidity is usually suitable, while stable moderate humidity reduces tight or marked new growth.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. A weak balanced fertiliser once a month is enough during active growth.
  • Pot choice: Use a pot only slightly larger than the root ball. Oversized pots keep the lower mix wet around the basal stems.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot or watering becomes difficult to manage. Spring to early summer gives the plant the easiest recovery window.
  • Pruning: Remove yellowing old leaves at the base with clean scissors. Wipe broad leaves gently with a damp cloth when dust collects.
  • Outdoor summer placement: Use only in settled warm weather. Move outside once nights stay above 16 °C and bring back indoors before nights fall below 14 °C.
  • Propagation: Established clumps can be divided when there are separate rooted shoots. Keep divisions warm and evenly moist while they settle.

Root, leaf and crown checks

  • Yellow lower leaves: Check the lower root zone. Several yellowing base leaves often point to wet mix around the crown or a cool pot.
  • Brown leaf tips: Check watering pattern, fertiliser strength and mineral residue. Broad leaves show salt stress clearly at the edge.
  • Soft new growth: Check temperature and root condition. Warmth and an aerated mix help new leaves firm after unfolding.
  • Marked glossy leaves: Check for dust, dried water spots or pest traces. Clean gently and inspect the undersides and central crown.
  • Leaning crown: Rotate the pot regularly so new leaves develop evenly around the central growth point.

Aglaonema 'Cocomelon' can occasionally produce arum-type inflorescences, but removing a flower stalk keeps the crown tidy.

Hard to judge thickness with only dimensions to go by
Color: Soft, Size: Standard(24"×16"×5.5")
Very nice quality, just what I hoped for. But it's just too thick for me. I'm thinking of using my electric knife to try to skim enough off to be usable. I've slept most of my life on latex pillows and have not enjoyed using other pillows.

Good pillow, but too high for my neck
Color: Soft, Size: Standard(24"×16"×5.5")
I love the Talalay latex for the quality, and that there is no smell. However, it is too high for my neck. I wish the company would make it in a 3" version, instead of just 5.5". They do have a "slim" version, but it is not even the same kind of pillow. It measures 2.5" and the back side is completely flat, so you can not turn it in over for use. The company basically took this 5.5" version and cut it in half for the slim.

I recently switched to the Talatex 100% Natural Premium Latex Pillow and it has transformed my sleep. Unlike synthetic memory foam, this Purefusion Talalay Latex is incredibly supportive yet soft, providing excellent pressure relief for both my neck and shoulders. I appreciate knowing there are no harsh chemicals in the core.  It retains its shape perfectly night after night and stays cool thanks to the breathable material. The quality is immediately apparent, especially with the removable Tencel cover, which is luxuriously smooth. It arrived in a beautiful package, truly making it the best gift for anyone seeking a healthier, more comfortable night's sleep. Highly recommended!

After trying out several latex over the years, the Talatex Talalay 100 stands out for its luxurious comfort, quality materials, and overall sleep experience. Made from 100% natural Talalay latex, it offers a perfect balance of softness and support. Comfort & Support: The Talalay latex feels incredibly buoyant yet plush. I found it especially beneficial for relieving neck pain. Temperature Regulation: One of the best aspects is its breathability. Latex naturally sleeps cooler than other foams. Eco-Friendliness: Another big plus is that it’s made from natural latex with no synthetic additives, making it a healthier and more environmentally friendly choice. It’s also hypoallergenic, which is great for allergy sufferers. Verdict: If you're looking for a premium latex sleep surface that delivers both comfort and longevity, the Talatex Talalay 100 is a solid investment. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but the quality and sleep experience justify the price.

Color: Soft, Size: Standard(24"×16"×5.5"), Color: Soft, Size: Standard(24"×16"×5.5")
Got the standard soft and the height is just right - perfect mix of plush and supportive. My neck pain is basically gone. Love that it stays cool through the night thanks to the little vent holes, and the Tencel cover feels super soft. Holds its shape really well too, no flattening. Packaging felt like a gift. Worth every penny.
