(Secale cereale); Heritage - Centennial; a Michigan Connection cultivar; Fall-planted

We are VERY excited to grow this historic rye that was introduced by Michigan State's Frank A. Spragg and are grateful to Michael Kasler of Taylor Creek Distillery for providing us with our initial seed sample.

"In 1909, the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station received a sample of pedigreed rye from Russia, through Mr. J.A. Rosen, a Russian student who graduated from the Agricultural College in 1908. Since the Russian name of this rye was unknown it was named Rosen rye. Figure No. 1 [posted] shows the first piece of Rosen rye planted in Michigan, fall 1909."*

From the first planting of Rosen rye in 1909, the Michigan Crop Improvement Association began selection and improvement work to ensure pure, high grade seed. During 1917, under war time conditions, over 250,000 acres of Rosen rye were sown by Michigan farmers; this doubled in 1918 to over 500,000 acres. By 1921 the entirety of rye on Michigan's South Manitou Island was Rosen rye. As supply increased and with the spread of word of Rosen's desirable attributes, the rye became commercially available to growers outside of Michigan, with "carloads" leaving the state in 1917.

Another Amazing Product from SKIN1004
I own at least 4 products from SKIN1004, because they really are a great skin care brand to invest in with. For reference, I have dry sensitive skin, I am prone to dark spots, some acne, dry patches and bigger pores. I have always had bad experiences with toner's so I was really hoping this would work for me. And it did more than that! I do believe my acne has gone down since using this, and to really test it out I finished the bottle after 5 and half months of daily morning and nighttime use. My skin feels smoother and bit brighter, more than anything it really keeps your skin clean without drying it out. It doesn't have a particular smell, the consistency is like water, and when you apply it is a bit tacky but no worries once it dries down completely, that goes away. This toner could be used by all skin types in my opinion. I will be trying their brightening toner soon, which I am even more excited about! Would repurchase.

A Skin Saver
I've been using the Centella toner for a week now, and it's quickly become a staple in my skincare routine. Infused with Centella Asiatica extract, this toner is perfect for calming irritated or sensitive skin. The texture is light and watery absorbs quickly without any sticky residue making it ideal for layering or using as a refreshing mist throughout the day. It is very soothing reduces redness and inflammation, especially after exfoliating or sun exposure. It is very hydrating and gives a subtle moisture boost without clogging pores. It has no alcohol or fragrance, so it's great for sensitive or acne-prone skin. I use it after cleansing and before serum, and I’ve noticed my skin feels more balanced and less prone to breakouts or irritation. It pairs well with other products and hasn’t caused any pilling or sensitivity. If your skin leans sensitive, inflamed, or needs a calming reset, this Centella toner is worth trying. Affordable, gentle, and effective. I definitely recommend this product
