Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble'

Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble' is a marbled pink-variegated Philodendron with finer pink colour across dark foliage. The leaves usually combine dark green, burgundy-green, blush pink and paler marbling, with each new leaf showing its own balance of colour. Young plants can look especially variable while the stem is still small.

This plant grows as an upright vining Philodendron with nodes, petioles and aerial roots. As it matures, the stem lengthens and benefits from a pole or trellis that keeps the plant upright and easier to shape.

Marbled pink leaves on a vining stem

  • Growth habit: Upright vining Philodendron that develops a visible stem with age.
  • Leaf pattern: Marbled pink, green and dark burgundy-green colouring across the blade.
  • Stem detail: Dark petioles and sheaths strengthen the contrast with pale pink markings.
  • Support needs: A slim pole or trellis keeps maturing stems stable and easier to shape.

Marbled Pink Princess growth

Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble' shares the dark foliage and pink variegation associated with Philodendron 'Pink Princess', but the colour is usually distributed in a more marbled pattern. Some leaves may carry more green, others more pink, and occasional lower-variegation growth can appear on the same plant.

The growth habit follows the wider Pink Princess line: a climbing or upright vining stem with leaf-bearing nodes. Mature plants are easier to manage when attached to support, because the stem can become top-heavy. Pruning above a node can shorten an uneven stem and give the plant a new growth point, but cuts should be made only when the plant is actively growing and healthy.

Care for pink marbling and steady vine growth

  • Light: Place in bright, indirect light. Pale pink and cream-pink areas can burn in direct sun, while very dim conditions produce slower, smaller growth.
  • Watering: Water when the upper layer of the mix has dried. Keep the root zone evenly managed, never waterlogged.
  • Substrate: Use an airy aroid substrate with bark, perlite or pumice and a moisture-retentive component. Fine, compact soil increases the risk of root rot.
  • Humidity: Moderate humidity is usually enough for established plants, but higher humidity helps new leaves open without damage.
  • Temperature: Keep above 18°C where possible. Avoid cold windowsills and cold wet substrate.
  • Training: Add a moss pole or slim trellis before the stem becomes heavy. Secure the stem gently at the nodes rather than pulling petioles into place.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. Use a balanced fertiliser and avoid heavy feeding on dry roots.

Problems to check in marbled pink growth

  • Pink areas turning brown: Check light intensity and watering consistency. Pale tissue marks quickly after sun scorch, drought stress or root damage.
  • Mostly green new growth: Check the pattern across several nodes before cutting. Prune only when there is a clear, healthy node with better colour below.
  • Yellowing leaves with soft stems: Inspect the roots and substrate. A pot that stays wet for too long can damage the root system.
  • Deformed new leaves: Check for pests in the cataphylls and along the midrib. Thrips can damage new leaves before they open.
  • Leaning stem: Add support and secure the stem gently. Older, hardened stems can crack if forced into a sharp new angle.

Calcium oxalate safety

Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals and should not be chewed or ingested. Keep it away from pets and children, and avoid contact between sap and eyes or sensitive skin when pruning.

Philodendron background

The genus Philodendron belongs to Araceae and takes its name from Greek roots meaning “loving trees”. Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble' is grown for dark vining foliage with a softer, clouded distribution of pink, green and burgundy colour across the leaves.

Philodendron 'Pink Princess Marble' develops dark vining foliage with softer pink marbling and a trainable upright stem.

Fine for a man (with skinny wrists)
Color: Black/Gray, Color: Black/Gray
I have an older mens ironman which has gotten a little beat up and needs replacing. The band is much longer than I need. The metal clasp sits off-center on the underside of my wrist, closer to the part of my wrist which curves around to the front. The too-long strap sometimes flops around and catches on things. I couldn't find a smaller-band mens version, so I tried this "womens" watch (picking the most manly-looking one, of course). I like it better. The band fits my wrist much better, with the metal band in the middle and no flop. I also like that the watch is lighter and the face and band are smaller and less bulky, so it is less noticeable when I'm wearing it (cycling weight weenies will appreciate this). The face is still large enough to be easily legible and contains all of the same great features as my mens ironman watch, plus the newer versions now have an hourly chime, nice! Other info: my wrist is ~17.5cm or ~7.0" around. On this watch, I use the 6th out of 9 slots on the band. On my mens ironman, I use the 3rd out of 9 slots. Weight: this one = 28g, mens = 39g. Pics show comparison of my prior mens ironman with this new "womens" ironman. Photo order is confusing (couldn't figure out how to change that). They are: (1) side-by-side, mens on left, (2) mens band (wider and clasp is off-center on my wrist, end of band hangs over the edge of my wrist -- too long for me -- catches on things), (3) womens band (less wide, clasp is more centered on my wrist and end does hang over edge of my wrist), (3) womens watch (smaller, and looks new), and (5) mens watch, looking a little beat up.

Watch holds up in saltwater!
Color: Black/Gray
I bought this watch to use for my trip to the Galapagos Islands. I read two reviews that the watch does not hold up in salt water. I went snorkeling in the ocean 6 times, about 45 minutes each time. The watch did not leak. I did take precautions by keeping the watch under my rash guard and lowering myself slowly into the water. I also rinsed off my watch each time I snorkeled. I also bought this watch for the multi time zone feature by saving the time on the west coast, east coast and Galapagos time since I cannot change the time on my Fitbit until I land in an airport. I did not use any other features of the watch because I generally use my phone or Fitbit for an alarm or timer. The only complaint I have is that Timex now discourages changing the battery by the consumer. I changed the battery myself on my old Ironman watch. The new Ironman watch is fitted with triangular head screws. So I will have to purchase screwdrivers with triangular heads when it comes time to change the battery.

Reliable and durable, even in harsh conditions
Color: Black/Gray
This watch has served me very well. From Arctic waters to long distance races, it has held up to everything except one task I asked of it, which was my fault. This watch can handle repeated free dives to 12 ft deep. It cannot handle scuba diving at the same depth for an hour straight without needing to have the battery shorted to reset it. It fits well, lights up consistently and brightly enough to read without being blinding, keeps accurate time, and generally does everything I want it to.

Typical Timex
Color: Black/Black/Brown
Just love this watch. It’s a little larger dial than the “typical” 38mm,which is what I was looking for. Works perfectly. Keeps decently accurate time, solid built metal case and glass crystal. Leather strap not too stiff so break in is not really a concern. I like Timex best for reliability, features and price. Plus it’s easy to change readily available batteries (which last about 1-2 years). Getting lots of compliments on it. One small oddity, what should be the second hand is actually a tachometer/chronograph function. The second hand is actually a smaller dial near the 6 o’clock position. Seems odd especially if you’ve never owned a hand sweep chronograph watch. Not a big deal just need to retrain your brain for the second hand. Timex has been my go to watch for years now and I’ve never had an issue with them except the occasional band or battery replacement. I wear them to work and am NOT easy on them at all. They just work. In my opinion, they are a great value. Moderate watches typically cost well over $100, Timex’s core watches are about 1/2 that price usually. Although the company has ventured into the upscale watch arena a few years ago and are also value packed and very good looking, some costing as much as $1000! For my daily driver kind of budget, I’ll stick with their core line basic watches thanks
