Description

Amorphophallus bulbifer is one of the prettiest of the Voodoo Lilies and the inflorescence doesn't smell that bad compared to others of the genus. Amorphophallus only blooms when mature and even so it doesn't bloom every year.

Its pink spathe is very attractive and extremly exotic looking with a soft greenish exterior, mottled and marbled with pale pink and the spadix is large, swollen and a flesh-coloured whitish-pink. The much-branched umbrella-like compound foliage is held aloft on a single, very long speckled petiole to form a lush jungly-looking mini-canopy. This plant produces small round fruits which change color from green to pink

Voodoo Lily bulbs develop dramatic and exotic flowers with a distinctive look, making them exceptional tropical bloomers. They flower from June to September in plains and July to October in hilly regions. For best results, plant between February and April in plains or March and May in hills.

Environment

These are quite easy to grow. Amorphophallus will go dormant in the winter. Plant the tubers in pots at least 4" wider than the tuber. The depth for planting the tubers will depend on its size. Small tubers should be buried around 2"-3" deep. Large tubers around 6"-10".

Use a good quality potting mix. Make sure that the top of the plant is facing up. When dormant, don't give it too much water, let the soil dry out. Keep it dry for a couple of weeks and then water it again. Don't fertilize. Repeat this process until the tuber wakes up in the spring. At that time you can start watering regularly and fertilizing the plant.

Landscape Use

Voodoo Lilly is the ideal plant for the shade garden or for containers.

Get the Tallow Soap Bar instead!
Too perfumy. Not very moisturizing. I've had a lot better but this same company makes an amazing tallow bar soap and that is worth it. Get the Tallow Soap Bar, you'll be glad you did.

Very good tallow cream, nice scent.
I've really been into testing different tallow creams and balms recently. In my experience, the difference between tallow cream and tallow balm is that the cream is much thinner and in most cases, less greasy. This tallow cream here is just that. It is thinner and less greasy than the balm. The sent on this one is interesting. It definitely smells like frankincense to me even though I don't see that listed with the ingredients. The tallow cream spreads out easily and absorbs into my skin very quickly, giving my skin a moisturized feel. It is not greasy in any way.

Better For Targeting Smaller Areas
Because this is a hard balm beef tallow, I find that it's best to use for targeting smaller areas. Due to being a hard balm, it's just kind of difficult to remove from the jar. Use the back of your fingernail to scrape against the balm and that will help you to lift out a small clump that you can then massage along the skin. Or use a cosmetic scoop or spatula to do so. Does not come with one. Once you get this into your skin, it does do a lot to treat and condition the skin. Moisturizes and relieves dryness on a deep level. Especially good for those who suffer from various dry skin conditions. It does have a very light scent that I like, but because of that, I don't like using this on my face. Besides, I tend to not like balms on my face anyway. You may like it there though because it is quite helpful. I love using this on my dry hands, especially after washing them. Also quite good to use along the fingernails to strengthen them. Will not leave the hands feeling messy with a lot of damp residuals. Made in the U.S.A.
