Overview
The Bug Factory's 3-Pod Mealworm Habitat offers an innovative and sustainable solution for cultivating your own supply of nutritious mealworms, ideal for feeding reptiles, birds, fish, and poultry. This unique system features a 3-tiered design that creates an optimal environment for continuous mealworm production. The expandable design allows for up to 6 pods for increased harvests.
The escape-proof habitat is designed to produce 150g - 300g of mealworms per tray. It's a great system to recycle your fruit and vegetable waste while turning low cost waste feed (wheat bran, oatmeal) into high-quality pet feed. The perforated lids keep colonies well oxygenated while simplifying harvesting of frass (castings, exoskeltons) through sifting. Adult beetles are cloistered in the blue breeding tray, keeping the distinct lifecycles separated for superior performance.

How To Use Mealworms:
Dried mealworms are 53-55% protein (live larvae, approx. 20%), 35-37% healthy unsaturated fats, fiber in the form of chitin, as well as being packed full of micronutrients and vitamins. They are an ideal, highly digestible addition to the diets of many animal species, including:
- Poultry, including chickens, guineas, turkeys, quail, ducks and geese
- Common house pets like cats, dogs, hampsters, sugar gliders and other exotic pets
- Many of species of reptiles and amphibians, including bearded dragons, geckos, tortoises, lizards and snakes
- Many species of fish will accept insects as part of a healthy diet, and anglers can use larvae & pupae as bait
- Wildlife such as birds, chipmunks, raccoons and squirrels relish in the live or dried larva
- Mealworms are edible and high in protein and have been determined safe for human consumption by the European Food Safety Authority
