The Flax family has been used for years in the manufacture of linseed oil and fabric. This species, Linum perenne, is native to Europe, typically found in the Alps and England, however, it has spread widely in North America. (Note: it is not the same species as Linum lewisii, the Blue Flax species native to the American West, which is the species famous in Native American lore.)
