This makes common potting soil one of the largest contributors to climate change in the gardening world.
Luckily we were able to work with our soil vendor to create SymbiOp's Peat-free Mix, which uses coconut coir instead of peat. Coconut fiber serves a similar function as peat in potting soil - increase water retention, microbial populations, and nutrients. By choosing our Peat-free Blend, you get the same benefits while removing a large contributor of greenhouse gas. It certainly won’t fix all of our ecological problems, but it is a step in the right direction!
