They are soft enough for her to carry around and just the right size for her to pick up and bring them to me to throw. There is a bit of texture on the Balls but it doesn't bother her the least bit. They do get slobbery after playtime but a quick rinse with water takes that right off. I do like the bright colors because the Balls are easy to see in the grass. I also use these to re-inforce training instead of food. Dog goes for it every time.
