Dieffenbachia ‘Udom Sap’ is a luxurious and highly decorative tropical houseplant, prized for its large foliage with bright marbled patterns. Its dense and exotic appearance makes it an excellent plant for adding greenery and texture to an indoor space.
Origin: Horticultural hybrid of the Dieffenbachia genus, derived from species native to the tropical forests of Central and South America.
Growth: Moderate to fast growth. It develops large oval dark green leaves marbled with light green, cream, or pale yellow depending on cultivation conditions. The plant forms a dense and elegant clump in a pot.
Flowers: Rare indoor flowering. Like other Dieffenbachia, it can produce an inflorescence composed of a spathe and a spadix, but the main interest lies in its ornamental foliage.
Light: Prefers bright but indirect light. It tolerates medium light, but good brightness helps maintain the foliage's contrasts. Avoid intense direct sun which can burn the leaves.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the substrate slightly moist, without excess water. It tolerates complete drying out of the potting mix poorly. Space out waterings slightly when growth slows down.
Substrate: Use a well-draining tropical plant potting mix. A mixture enriched with perlite or coir ensures good root aeration while maintaining consistent humidity.
Toxicity: Highly toxic if ingested by humans and animals. Its sap can also be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.
