This is a large, established specimen with real presence – perfect for creating an instant focal point in a room, on a terrace or within a sheltered garden border. Its bold, architectural foliage works beautifully in more contemporary settings but also sits comfortably within traditional planting schemes.
Native to the woodlands of Japan and South Korea, Fatsia thrives in a range of conditions and is known for being relatively easy to care for. It will grow happily indoors in a bright room or outdoors in a sheltered position, where it brings structure and year-round interest.
Plant in well-drained soil and position in bright, indirect light or partial shade. Avoid deep shade, which can reduce the vibrancy of the variegation. Water thoroughly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Feed monthly during the growing season to support healthy growth.
Hardy outdoors to around -10°C when established, though best protected from cold winds and harsh frost. In colder spots, it also makes an excellent container plant that can be moved if needed.
