This is one of the all-time classic "Slipper Orchids," and for good reason. It’s a plant that simply doesn't know when to quit. The flower spike produces blooms sequentially, meaning it opens one or two flowers at a time, and as the first one fades, another bud matures and opens. This slow-motion parade can last for many months—even up to a year—on a single, mature spike.

The flower itself is a perfect marriage of its two famous parents. It inherits the majestic stature and bold striping of the "King of Paphs," Paph. rothschildianum, in its tall dorsal sepal (the 'flag' on top). But it gets its most charming features from Paph. glaucophyllum: the fantastic, bright raspberry-pink, waxy pouch, and the long, twisted, hairy petals marked with bold crimson spots.

Even when not in bloom, the foliage is a showstopper all by itself. This isn't a plain green Paph. The leaves are beautifully tessellated (mottled) with a dramatic pattern of silvery blue-green and deep forest green. The leaves themselves are thick, leathery (coriaceous), and oblong, typically 6-10 in. long.

Quick Start Light: Bright shade, 1,000–1,800 foot-candles (≈10–18k lux). No direct sun. Temps: Intermediate–Warm. Days 75–85°F (24–29°C); Nights 60–68°F (15–20°C). Water: Keep evenly moist, like a wrung-out sponge. Never let it get bone-dry. Humidity: 60–80% with good air movement. Fertilizer: Weak (¼–½ strength), weekly in growth. Flush monthly. Media: A "Paph Mix": medium bark, perlite, charcoal, and a calcium source (oyster shell or limestone chips).

🌺 Orchid Lore & Discovery Paph. Vanguard is a "primary hybrid," meaning its parents are two distinct species. It was first registered by the legendary firm of Sander & Sons way back in 1921, making it a true antique in the orchid world. It was an inspired cross, designed to tame a difficult parent and create a plant with nonstop flowers.

Its parentage is:

Paphiopedilum rothschildianum: The "King of Paphs." A legendary and dramatic species from Mt. Kinabalu in Borneo. It grows on steep, ultramafic slopes near waterfalls (1,600–4,000 ft.). It provides Vanguard with its tall flower spike, large flower size, and the bold, maroon-striped dorsal sepal. It is multi-floral, blooming all at once.

Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum: A wonderful species from Java and Sumatra, Indonesia. It grows on volcanic slopes and limestone cliffs (700–2,500 ft.). This parent is the source of Vanguard's greatest traits: the beautiful mottled blue-green leaves, the bright pink pouch, and the incredible sequential blooming habit.

The hybrid successfully combines the drama of the "King" with the endurance, color, and stunning foliage of its Indonesian parent.

🌿 How to Grow Paphiopedilum Vanguard Light Bright, filtered light is perfect. An east-facing window or a shaded south window is ideal. The mottled leaves are sensitive to direct sun and will burn. Leaves should be a firm, patterned blue-green; if they turn yellowish, the light is too high.

Temperature This hybrid is very adaptable and thrives in standard household temperatures. It prefers intermediate-to-warm conditions: 75–85°F days, with a night-time drop to 60–68°F. It dislikes cold drafts below 55°F.

Water Paphs have no pseudobulbs to store water, so they must never dry out completely. The goal is to keep the media evenly moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly just as the mix is approaching dryness. Good drainage is critical.

Humidity High humidity (60–80%) is ideal. If growing in a drier home, placing the pot on a tray of wet pebbles (ensuring the pot doesn't sit in the water) can help. Good air movement is essential to prevent rot.

Fertilizer "Weakly, weekly." Paphs are sensitive to salt buildup. Use a balanced fertilizer at ¼ to ½ strength with every watering during active growth. It is crucial to flush the pot with plain, fresh water at least once a month to dissolve any built-up salts.

Media These plants need a potting mix that retains moisture but also drains well. A classic "Paph mix" containing medium-grade fir bark, perlite, charcoal, and (critically) a calcium source is best. The glaucophyllum parent often grows on limestone, so Vanguard appreciates the "sweet" (alkaline) mix provided by crushed oyster shell or dolomite limestone chips.

Repotting Repot every 1-2 years, before the bark media breaks down and becomes sour. They hate stale, compacted mix. The best time is after flowering is finished, just as new leaf growth is beginning. The plant can be stoloniferous (it sends out short runners), so a slightly wider pot may be needed as it matures.

Offered in 4" pots.

Does the job for less!
Material Type: Recycled Fiber
Amazon usually has great deals on toilet paper and paper towel. Usually it arrives quickly and intact. The rolls are large and last quite a while. The paper is thin, but thats the way i like it. The thinner sheets are better for your septic systems. I find that while other brands are softer, the amount of waste is ridiculous and we go through toilet paper much faster. Overall, I think this toilet paper does what it needs to do, lasts longer, and is better for your septic systems if you have one!

Worth the price!
Material Type: Recycled Fiber
I used to buy toilet paper almost every 2-3 weeks and this is the actual deal now! I purchase this bulk every 5 months for a family of two. Works as intended and I really appreciate it's not scented. Haven't had an issue so far!

Great plated and nice designs to chose from . These are good and strong.
Size: 10 in-140 count
Love these plates for every soy. I normally use paper plates for lunch but I started using them for non messy dinners. We have even used them for spaghetti. They handled the sauce and meaball and sausage with no problem. I would normally U.S. China plates for something like the, I got lazy one night and used these I was pleasantly shocked they worked with no leak through.

Sturdy plates
Size: 10 in-140 count
I purchased these but I normally go to Sam’s Club for bulk. I had a party and these were a hit. Very sturdy and plenty of room. I don’t really like the edges, they’re straight but that’s cosmetic preference not function.
