Bring home a piece of authentic Indian gardening tradition with our Heirloom Bitter Gourd / Bitter Melon Seeds (Indian Variety). Also known as Karela in Hindi and Pavakkai in Tamil, this variety has been cherished in Indian home gardens for generations.

The plants are vigorous climbers with dense green foliage and trailing vines that thrive when trained on a trellis or fence. Fruits are medium-sized, elongated, and ridged, showcasing the classic deep green color associated with traditional Indian bitter gourd. Each plant is highly productive, yielding multiple fruits over a long growing season.

This heirloom strain is open-pollinated, non-GMO, and organically grown in the USA, making it a perfect choice for gardeners who value authenticity, quality, and seed purity.

Growth & Cultivation

  • Plant Habit: Vigorous climbing vine; benefits from trellising for higher yields.
  • Fruit Shape & Size: Elongated, heavily ridged fruits with deep green skin.
  • Season: Warm-season annual, thrives in full sun.
  • Maturity: Fruits typically ready for harvest within 60–70 days from sowing.
  • Garden Use: Ideal for trellises, arbors, and raised beds.

Culinary Heritage

In Indian cuisine, bitter gourd is a staple ingredient, valued for its bold, distinctive flavor. The fruits are used in:

  • Traditional curries and stir-fries.
  • Stuffed preparations with spices and herbs.
  • Fried chips and fritters as a side dish.
  • Pickling recipes for long-lasting use.

Its unique taste pairs beautifully with strong spices, making it a beloved vegetable in Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian kitchens. Buy Indian Karela online from our store.

Solid Watch 2 Months In TLDR, would buy again
Color: Black/Black/Digital
Solid watch so far with a readable face and a comfortable strap. My previous watch was a G-shock DW5600. I chose this for the lap feature and generally liked the appearance. Things I didn’t love: 1) the chronograph displays the mode at the top. I know what mode it’s in, it would be better to have the actual time. 2) this has dual time zones, it’s apparently easy to flip to the second time zone without realizing. I have mine set to US eastern and US central (a one hour difference which begs the question why, and I hear you). But I almost missed 2 events not realizing my wristwatch had jumped back an hour while playing with my kids in the park. 3) I’m still playing with the count down timer function. I messed something up on my first run, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Just something didn’t work intuitively. 4) I didn’t realize how often I had used the indigo equivalent feature on my Gshock as a flash light in low light situations. With the black face this isn’t an option on this watch (I’d still make this trade for the aesthetic). I would buy again just for something fresh after 5+ years with the G-Shock and the lap feature. Probably a little hyper critical focused on the short comings. Water resistance has been tested an no issues after two months.

Tough as hel
Color: Black/Black/Digital
This watch hasn’t left my wrist in 5 months and has been through hell and back. Has all the features I’ll ever need. Bought a second one to keep in case they discontinue it in the future.
