Tetrapanax papyrifer - rice paper plants are fantastic architectural shrubs. Huge green foliage that is lobed, new growth and undersides are covered in woolly hairs. 

They grow well in rich well-drained soil, winter protection is advised. Supposedly evergreen, but we have found it to be deciduous. Sometimes when you see the huge leaves battered by wind, being deciduous is not a bad thing. They gladly unfurl new leaves in spring. They look dramatic and are an exotic plant hunters' shrub, not for casual amateurs. 

Tetrapanax papyrifer produce creamy pompoms of flowers are produced in large sprays in autumn, followed by black fruit. Send in a picture if you ever see them. Can spread by suckering. They can reach upto 2m high.

Cute, but buyer beware. Maybe the description said this, but who would think to read for this.... You have to insert an empty bottle (like an old water bottle) for it to make the crinkle noise. There is a velcro spot at the base where you can open it and insert the water bottle for the noise factor and your dogs entertainment. I've yet to do that, but feel like my dog is gonna figure out the velcro and get the bottle out in no time. Seems like a waste of money. I could just give her an empty water bottle without the toy for free.
