Lewisia rediviva, commonly known as bitterroot, is a low-growing, perennial herbaceous plant in the Montiaceae family, native to western North America. It is well-adapted to arid and rocky habitats, thriving in well-drained, sandy or gravelly soils at elevations ranging from valleys to alpine regions. The plant is noted for its fleshy, narrow leaves, which form a basal rosette and typically wither before the flowers appear. Bitterroot produces stunning, cup-shaped flowers ranging in color from pale pink to deep rose, occasionally white, with numerous petals that create a starburst-like appearance. The flowers are borne on short stems and bloom in spring or early summer, often following seasonal rains. After flowering, it produces small, dry fruits containing shiny black seeds. The plant has a thick, fleshy taproot, which enables it to survive prolonged drought conditions. Lewisia rediviva holds cultural and historical significance, particularly among Native American tribes, who valued its edible roots for food and trade. Its beauty and resilience make it a popular choice for rock gardens and xeriscaping. Zones 3-9

Germination

Germinating Lewisia rediviva (bitterroot) from seeds requires simulating the plant's natural conditions to encourage successful growth. To mimic the plant’s natural winter dormancy, subject the seeds to cold stratification. This can be done by placing the seeds in a moist, well-draining medium, such as sand or a mix of sand and peat moss, and storing them in a refrigerator at 1–5°C (34–41°F) for 4–6 weeks. After stratification, sow the seeds on the surface of a well-drained, gritty substrate, such as a mix of coarse sand, perlite, and a small amount of potting soil. Lightly press the seeds into the soil without covering them, as they require light for germination. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, and place the container in a bright, cool location with temperatures around 10–15°C (50–59°F). Germination may take several weeks to months, depending on conditions. Once seedlings develop a few true leaves, they can be carefully transplanted into individual pots or directly into a well-drained garden site. Avoid overwatering, as bitterroot is highly drought-tolerant and susceptible to root rot in overly moist conditions.

Practical and easy to use
This electric can opener performs its function well and gets the job done effortlessly. With just the press of a button, it opens cans quickly and smoothly—which is very useful, especially if you prefer not to exert physical force. The design is comfortable to handle and does not take up much space in the kitchen. The battery life is good, and it recharges without any issues. Overall, it is a functional product that makes an everyday chore much easier.

Good product
Let me tell you just how much I love this can opener. I am 80 yrs old and the hand opener was becoming a real challenge to use, this is sooooooo easy, holds it's charge for a long time and the lids don't have any rough edges. Great product for an excellent price.

It worked on all size of cans
Eh pretty good for the whopping 3 weeks I had it. Came home one day and it was broken. It still operated. As in all functions were there but it wouldn't latch onto cans anymore. I think one of my adult kids dropped it. Honestly surprised motor still operated after it's drop.
