"Something from Nothing" was a beloved children’s book which tells of a devoted grandfather who lovingly transforms a worn-out blanket into one keepsake after another—turning what seems like trash into treasure. Inspired by him, the grandson turns a scrap of paper into a story. It’s a beautiful reminder that generational blessings can flow from the fingertips of those who care deeply and work with love.
Years ago, I rescued a wild rose from the path of a lawn mower. That one small act became the beginning of something much greater. Today, that rose has grown into a large, thriving bush in the Hundredfold trial garden—and from it, a genetically diverse patch of wild swamp roses has flourished. Every seed we offer comes from this lovingly cultivated stand.
Restoration doesn’t require massive capital or heroic effort. Sometimes, all it takes is a watchful eye, a willing heart, and the quiet work of your own hands. I hope this Toronto-grown story—a real-life version of Something from Nothing—inspires you to turn the overlooked, the small, or the forgotten into something incredible.
