Tillandsia is the largest genus in the bromeliad family. Tillandsia, also known as "air plant," is an epiphyte. This means that it doesn't need soil, but, instead, obtains water and nutrients from the air. You grow Tillandsia not by planting it in a pot, but by mounting it to a board, tile, or another object, or by growing it in a special Tillandsia planter, which is usually just a glass hanging globe with holes in it to increase airflow.

Water :

To water Tillandsia, mist it two to three times per week

Light :

Lighting for Tillandsias should be bright but filtered (April - October). Tillandsias may be grown in the house directly in front of a window. Fresh moving air is advisable, but remember, the most important care need is bright filtered light.

Fertilizer :

Use Bromeliad fertilizer (17-8-22) twice a month. It is GREAT for blooming and reproduction! Other water-soluble fertilizers can be used at 1/4 strength (Rapid Grow, Miracle-Grow, etc.) if Bromeliad fertilizer is not available.
