Serenoa repens is a Southeastern US native palm, ranging from Coastal South Carolina south to Florida, where it grows in very acidic sand. The most northern populations have green foliage, but starting in Coastal North Florida and continuing south, many populations have stunning silver foliage. We are offering seedlings from a winter hardy clone, grown for years to fruiting size by former local NC plantsman, Mike Papay. Serenoa repens typically struggles for the first three years, after which time, if it's still alive, it starts to take off. These can reach a 8' tall x 12' wide size in a decade...if they survive. You will want to grow these to a larger size before putting them in the ground in colder climates. Full sun is recommended in colder climates, so that sugar production for hardiness is increased. Serenoa repens is not the easiest palm to grow, so these are best for palm nuts who love to experiment. Our supply of these is very limited.
