Enrich your edible landscape with our 1-gallon strawberry plants, robust specimens designed for immediate production. This superior format features a powerful root system, ensuring vigorous establishment and a bountiful harvest right from the first season. Grow exceptional fruit by choosing from our premium varieties: Albion for its firmness, Quatre Saisons for its wild aroma, Seascape for its large juicy berries, or Lila for its unique elegance.

Available Varieties (subject to availability)

  • Albion (Fragaria × ananassa 'Albion'): An everbearing variety renowned for its large, deep red berries. Its firm flesh makes it an excellent choice for container gardening, as the fruit maintains its texture even in high heat.
  • Profruit Quatre Saisons (Fragaria × ananassa 'Profruit'): The go-to choice for authentic wild strawberry taste. It performs beautifully in window boxes and planters thanks to its compact growth habit, providing an easy-to-reach harvest.
  • Seascape (Fragaria × ananassa 'Seascape'): Stands out for its high productivity and impressive fruit size. While it thrives in the ground, it is highly successful in large pots where its fruit-laden stems cascade elegantly over the sides.
  • Lila (Fragaria × ananassa 'Lila'): An exclusive variety prized for its vigour. Its robustness makes it ideal for raised beds and balcony pots, offering a reliable production regardless of weather fluctuations.

In-Ground Gardening

Growing in the ground allows these mature plants to reach their full productivity potential and create a long-lasting edible carpet.

  • Soil and Planting: Prefer rich, loose, well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot. Ensure the crown (base of the stems) remains level with the soil surface.
  • Fertilization: Amend with mature compost at planting time. Apply a biological granular small-fruit fertilizer every spring and a booster dose in July to sustain production.
  • Maintenance: Straw mulch is highly recommended to protect large fruits from ground contact, retain moisture, and suppress weeds.
  • Winter Protection: Once the ground has frozen, cover plants with 10 cm of straw to insulate roots and protect buds from freeze-thaw cycles.

Container, Planter, and Large Pot Gardening

The 1-gallon format is perfect for instantly creating productive urban gardens. Growing in containers offers several key advantages:

  • Cleanliness and Health: In pots, the fruit naturally hangs over the edge instead of sitting on the soil. This keeps the berries perfectly clean and significantly reduces the risk of rot and fungal diseases.
  • Containers and Potting Mix: Use a pot 25 to 30 cm in diameter with drainage holes. Use a high-quality potting mix rich in organic matter.
  • Fertilization: Because nutrients leach quickly, apply a liquid biological fertilizer every two weeks, preferably high in potassium, to support non-stop blooming.
  • Watering: Containers dry out fast. Water daily during heatwaves to prevent wilting; soil should remain moist but never waterlogged.
  • Winter Care: Roots in containers are more vulnerable to hard frost. In the fall, transplant them into the garden or move the container to a cool, dark place (like an unheated garage) after the first frost.

The Tale of Salem
Format: Paperback
If you’re not familiar with the history of Salem and its witch trials, this graphic novel is a solid entry point. The author, while not a historian, clearly put in the work—spending time in Salem, connecting with residents, and striving to honor both the historical record and the modern-day sentiments of those who live with that legacy. His goal was to get the facts right while also capturing how the people of Salem view their own history, and I think he succeeded in that respect. The artwork fits the subject matter well. We often imagine people of that time as living hard, joyless lives, and the art conveys that sense of austerity. The mix of black-and-white and color panels is sometimes striking—there are moments where the color really enhances the impact of a scene—but other times I wasn’t sure what it added. Still, the black-and-white aesthetic ties neatly into the grim tone of the era. That said, the book is quite long, and if you’re already well-versed in the Salem Witch Trials, you may not learn much new in terms of facts. But if you enjoy studying the trials or want to explore the story through a different medium, this graphic novel is definitely worth picking up. For me, it landed at a 3.5 stars, which I’ll round up to 4 (since I usually do that when posting on review sites).

Salem's a Lot
Format: Paperback
Great comic that deserves to be at the top end of best of 2025 lists. Intensively researched with multiple art approaches to the varied settings. It also made me want to take a trip to Salem in the off-season. A virtuosic undertaking!

Offers the bloody, beating heart of the Salem Witch Trials
Format: Paperback
Unlike so many books and movies that examine the Salem Witch Trials from an academic or outsider perspective, "More Weight" plunges you into the everyday life of 1692 Salem. Giles Corey's story is often boiled down to the story of his death but he and Martha are given a deeper look here, with the result of some truly disturbing pages. The addition of Hawthorne and Longfellow sharing their thoughts in 1860 and then a look at what Salem is today, further enriches an already multi-layered story. Incredible work.
