Their dense and meaty texture makes them hearty and perfect for vegetarian meals. Plants are "bush" type, with sturdy stems. Beans were domesticated by indigenous peoples of central America. This is the 'Midnight' strain bred by Cornell University in the 1980's to be disease resistant to Bean Common Mosaic Virus, Fusarium, Pythium, and white mold.
