Growing Instructions

Plant in the spring after all danger of frost has passed. Dahlias thrive in full sun locations where they receive direct sunlight 6 hours or more each day. The ideal soil is rich and porous and drains well, yet still holds enough water for the roots. If your soil is heavy clay and drains slowly, or very sandy and does not hold water, add organic soil amendments like peat moss or ground bark. Spread a 3-4 inch layer of soil amendment if needed and incorporate into the soil to a depth of 10 inches. Plant tubers 3-5" deep and 12-16" apart. Cover with soil. When planting a large number of dahlias in one bed, excavate the entire area to the recommended depth, work fertilizer into the bottom of the trench, set out tubers and then cover all at once. Water thoroughly at planting. While actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so that water will reach roots. Mulch to keep the soil cool and to prevent the soil from drying out. Fertilize in early spring and again in late summer. In areas where dahlias are not winter hardy, dig up tubers just before frost. Cut off stems 2" above tuber. Store tubers at 50ºF in dry peat moss or vermiculite. Replant in spring after all danger of frost has passed. In areas where dahlias are winter hardy, tubers may be left in the ground if a layer of organic mulch such as leaves, straw or hay is provided.

Care Tip

Jump start dahlia tubers indoors 4-6 weeks before the last anticipated frost date. Plant 1 tuber per 5-8" pot filled with potting mix and place in a warm, sunny spot. Plant outdoors in spring after all danger of frost has passed. To promote more foliage and an abundance of blooms, pinch dahlias when reaching 8-10" in height and cut some of the taller stems back. Taller dahlias may need to be staked, caged or corraled to prevent toppling over. Divide dahlias in fall.

Hands free toy!!!
This is one of my dogs absolute favorite toys. I have a German shepherd husky mix that is notorious for destroying his toys. This one has stood the test !!! Have had it for about a month and we have played rough with it. The battery lasts forever. It’s such an easy toy too. Stuck under the couch?? It’ll eventually bounce its way out. Dog nudging and you need some space, pop this this on and it’s like a magic trick lol. My dog gets so excited when I pick it up because he knows I’ll turn it on. Sometimes, he will bounce it hoping it will turn on lol. Stronglyyyyyyy recommend.

Might be good for some playful dogs
My dog likes to play fetch with a rubber ball and figured I would give this one a tray as it moves on its own. It is a little on the larger size, so this is likely going to be for a large dog. My dog is about 30 pounds and it was too large of a ball for his mouth. You can open up the ball and set it to bounce on its own by hitting a switch. It will bounce all around and is very quiet. However, my dog is a little nervous and he freaked out at it moving. I ended up giving it to a friend and she said her dog loves chasing around her house and outside. It is a great idea and good for some dogs, but not if your dog is a little skittish.

Fun dog toy!
First, I was impressedby the quality of this ball. It seems quite well made. The adult twists it open, it's tight enough I know my dog cannot open it. Note - there are warnings it is dangerous for a dog to get to the inside. That noted, I would always supervise. There are two choices of modes, one more intense. Hold to activate your choice and tightly put back together. It worked right away, vibrating and shaking. The humans greatly enjoyed, especially a child. My dog, a bit fearful but curious. So we will slowly introduce to her. The is a USB cord included for charging, which is nice. Overall a fun item!

Fun
Great product and works as advertised. My dog is small and was not that interested in it, but my black Labrador was all about it. Simple to use and easy to charge. It’s durable and has lasted against my lab so far.
