Threadleaf Coreopsis Moonbeam Delivers Easy-Care, Butter-Yellow Flowers All Summer Long

Fill Your Garden with Months of Sunny Blooms with the Threadleaf Coreopsis Moonbeam

The Threadleaf Coreopsis Moonbeam is an award-winning perennial prized for its long-lasting, buttery-yellow blooms, airy threadlike foliage, and pollinator appeal. Deer-resistant and drought-tolerant, it thrives in poor soils and delivers vibrant color from late spring through fall.

Moonbeam Coreopsis spp. was designated a native State Wildflower of Florida in 1991 in recognition of its beauty and frequent use in the state’s highway beautification plantings. Coreopsis verticiilata Moonbeam won the 1992 Plant of the Year Award from the Perennial Plant Association, and we can see why.

Coreopsis species are great for attracting pollinators, especially butterflies and bees, to your garden. Their long blooming period provides a food source from late spring to fall. Sometimes called by the common name “tickseed,” Coreopsis has tiny seeds that look like small insects. Don’t worry; they won’t bring ticks to your yard.

Deer resistant and drought tolerant once established, ‘Moonbeam’ brings cheerful color to your garden without a lot of work. Even those without a green thumb will have an impressive display with this easy-to-care-for plant. It will continue to slowly spread and grow more extensively year after year.

Moonbeam Coreopsis Care Guide

‘Moonbeam’ is hardy to USDA zones 3-9 and tolerates both heat and extreme cold quite well. Once established, this is a tough and rugged plant. Coreopsis verticillata ‘Moonbeam’ grows best in full sun. It will tolerate partial shade in areas with hotter summers. It is at home in a bright sunny border planting or foundation screen on those hotter south and west sides of the house or garage.  Coreopsis has a clumping growth habit. Each plant will be 18-24 inches tall and wide. The clumps will slowly spread by rhizomes and may self-seed. Plant them 12-14 inches apart for a border or mass planting.

This perennial will grow in most soils that are well drained and is not picky about pH levels. It will establish well in dry or rocky soils that are difficult for other plants. Water well for the first six weeks after planting, then as needed for the rest of the first growing season. They are drought tolerant after a few months of getting settled. If growing ‘Moonbeam’ in a container, more frequent, regular watering will be required.

  • Hardy in USDA zones 3–9, ‘Moonbeam’ tolerates both heat and extreme cold and becomes a tough, rugged plant once established.
  • Grows best in full sun, though it will tolerate partial shade in hotter climates and works well in sunny borders or as a foundation screen on south- or west-facing sides of the home.
  • Adaptable to most well-drained soils, including dry or rocky areas, and is not picky about soil pH.
  • Water thoroughly for the first six weeks, then as needed through the first growing season; plants become drought tolerant after settling in.
  • Container-grown plants require more frequent watering, as pots dry out faster than in-ground plantings.

Decent Shoes with Misleading Description (Not Leather)
Size: 12 Wide, Color: Black, Size: 12 Wide, Color: Black
I only look for leather when I’m purchasing dress shoes. Under the description “details” on this item it lists the shoe as leather upper and inner lining. A photo shows “genuine Napa leather lining”. If you keep reading (which I have now that I’ve received the shoes) it shows “faux leather” in the small print and that is not “leather”. I run a small leather business and this irks me because it’s clearly false advertising. The details also show the product is made in Brazil but when they arrived today, the shoe tag shows “Made in China” and “Man Made upper and lower”. I don’t hate the shoes. They look nice. What I know is they won’t hold up over time like leather, which is why the description should be accurate and not misleading.
