About Sansevieria: Snake plants are originally from tropical grasslands and native to West Africa. Snake Plants are easy to care for houseplants for beginners. They can survive in lower light conditions but thrive in bright light.
How to care for your Snake Plant:
Difficulty: Very Easy
Light: Likes bright indirect, can tolerate low light.
Humidity: Low humidity is fine.
Watering: Water when completely dry.
Snake plants improve the environment in your home or office by:
- Purifying the air. According to NASA, snake plants filter indoor air, removing 4 of the 5 main toxins involved in the effects of sick building syndrome
- Releasing oxygen at night. Like Cacti, snake plants preserve water by transpiration at night, releasing oxygen. This makes them one of the best plants for your bedroom.
- Creating good Feng Shui. Spiky plants are excellent for shielding you against negative Chi. Their aggressive energy means you should place them in low-traffic areas.
Other Names for Snake Plants: Saint George's sword, mother-in-law's tongue, and viper's bowstring hemp, Dracaena trifasciata.
