Rock 'N Grow Lemonjade Autumn Stonecrop (Sedum hybrid 'Lemonjade')

Rock 'N Grow Lemonjade Autumn Stonecrop brings a fresh, bright twist to late-season color with flower heads that stand out from the usual pinks. Its sturdy, clump-forming habit holds a clean shape, helping borders look intentional from summer into fall. As blooms open, the citron yellow clusters light up sunny beds and attract pollinators when many plants are winding down. It thrives with sun and drainage, offering reliable impact with minimal maintenance.

Distinctive Features

This upright, mounded stonecrop produces broad, showy flower clusters in bright citron yellow from late summer into early fall. The foliage is a clean green to gray-green tone that stays attractive through the season and supports the vivid bloom color. Stems are notably sturdy, helping the plant hold its flower heads upright rather than splitting open at peak bloom. After flowering, the seed heads can persist and add texture as the season cools.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Full sun is best for sturdy growth and abundant flowering, with light shade tolerated.
  • Soil: Plant in well-drained soil and avoid consistently wet or heavy conditions.
  • Water: Water to establish, then provide low to moderate moisture, allowing soil to dry between waterings.
  • USDA Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 3 to 9.
  • Mature Size: Typically grows 16 to 18 inches tall and spreads 26 to 28 inches wide.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Use a small grouping as a late-season focal point where the citron yellow blooms can brighten a sunny bed.
  • Borders: Plant in sunny borders to add strong structure and a bold late-season color shift.
  • Mass Planting: Plant in drifts for a broad sweep of coordinated foliage and flower color.
  • Rock and Gravel Gardens: Fit it into fast-draining beds where drought-tolerant perennials perform best.
  • Containers: Grow in well-drained containers as a filler that adds late-season bloom and clean form.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Pruning: Leave flower heads for fall and winter texture, then cut back in late winter to early spring before new growth starts.
  • Fertilizing: Avoid heavy feeding, because rich soil can encourage softer growth and reduce stem strength.
  • Staking: Staking is rarely needed when grown in full sun and well-drained soil.
  • Mulching: Use a light mulch or gravel top-dress and keep the crown from staying wet to reduce rot risk.
  • Dividing: Divide every few years in spring if you want to refresh vigor and manage size.

Why Choose Rock 'N Grow Lemonjade Autumn Stonecrop?

  • Uncommon Flower Color: Citron yellow flower heads deliver a standout late-season look.
  • Sturdy Habit: Strong stems help the plant stay upright and resist splitting at bloom time.
  • Waterwise Performance: Succulent growth handles heat and short dry spells once established in well-drained soil.
  • Pollinator Support: Flowers attract bees and butterflies during a valuable late-season window.
  • Lower Browsing Pressure: Foliage is often less appealing to rabbits than many soft-leaved perennials.

Rock 'N Grow Lemonjade Autumn Stonecrop is an easy way to extend color into fall with a look that feels bright, clean, and different. Pair it with ornamental grasses, asters, or darker foliage plants to make the yellow blooms stand out even more. With sun and drainage, it delivers reliable structure and late-season interest year after year.

Another good Benchmark Atlas
Format: Spiral-bound
We camp frequently and own all of the Benchmark Atlases. Although, this is different due to Canadian laws, we are excited to try it out! Very detailed with information, such as small campgrounds and identifying land ownership (Forest services or BLM)

Memories of the Camino
Format: Paperback
First off, I have to say that my husband and I know Angela, the author. We met her because she is a neighbor of my sister, living in Hawaii. We discovered that she planned to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela the same year we were (2016) ! On a visit to Hawaii, we met with Angela and did a little local hike together. She was so enthusiastic and had prepared well. We, too, had been reading up and watching videos, getting suggestions as to what to bring, how to deal with physical issues and weather, what to pack and what not to pack, etc. Still, for anyone doing the Camino - whether the WHOLE 500 miles or doing the required 100 km to get the certificate at the final destination: Santiago de Compostela, Spain - it is a very personal endeavor. Reading Angela Leslee's book gives you the personal story of her "camino," and it is captivating. The changes that take place in her life - the discoveries she makes, the people she meets, the failures she feels, the fears, the habits that get broken (such as food choices!) - all make for an adventure that is life-changing and an interesting read. For anyone considering this pilgrimage, because that's what it is, this book will inspire you. You don't need to be part of a "group." You don't need a lot of plans. You do need to be prepared to be changed. The memory for myself and my husband is that it is the best shared experience we have had together in our 50 years of marriage! Angela's book brought back so many wonderful memories for us. I highly recommend this book.

Feeling Inspired!
Format: Paperback
Reading "The Way of Love" has inspired and encouraged me as I plan for my first (solo) Camino. I thank Angela Leslee for being unafraid to bare all the emotions in her book: the joys, victories, setbacks, disappointments, and pain. It's evident that "The Way of Love" was a labor of love as page after page recounts the 500 miles she walked! I told the author in an email that, in September, when I walk my Camino, I'll be sure to be up and out on the trail "...before sunrise when the yellow street lights cast their magical glow." Can't wait to experience that! "The Way of Love" -- easy to read and enjoy.

the good, the bad, the funny, the reality
Format: Kindle
A great memoir of an “older” woman walking the Camino de Santiago alone. Alone but with many friendships along the way.
