This plant is one of the easier care of this plant family and can be highly enjoyable to grow.

Prefers moderate to bright, indirect light; avoid prolonged direct sunlight as it can damage foliage.

Water: High
Likes to stay consistently moist in bright light, and can dry about halfway in moderate light; never let the soil dry out completely. Water roughly once a week or more depending on light and environment. 

Soil: Moisture-retaining potting soil mix
50 percent potting soil, 20 percent orchid bark, 20 percent charcoal, and 10 percent vermiculite/perlite

Toxicity Level: Not toxic to animals.

Additional Information: Brown spotting and crispy leaves are a sign of chemical burn from tap water. Not tolerant to cold temperatures. May go dormant during winter; cut back watering during winter.

It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
