Jack’s Gritty Mix is versatile and suitable for a wide range of plants. Some plants may benefit from the addition of potting soil or coco coir. For example, Bald Cypress thrives with 80% heavy potting soil and 20% Gritty Mix. Brazilian Raintree or Haworthia, on the other hand, may prefer straight Gritty Mix. Echeveria may require a 50/50 mix. The ideal mix varies depending on the plant, zone, and microclimate, ranging from 100% Gritty Mix to 5% Gritty Mix.
Each bag contains Monto Clay (montmorillonite), Bonsai Block (calcined ball clay), and Pine Bark Fines, with particle sizes ranging from 1/8” to 3/8”.
