Red Anthurium

Description

The red, heart-shaped flower of Anthuriums, also known as Painted Tongue, Flamingo Flower (Flamingo Lily) or Tail Flower, is really a spathe or a waxy, modified leaf flaring out from the base of a fleshy spike (spadix) where the tiny real flowers grow. Most common colors of anthuriums are red and shades of red.

Origin: South East Asia

Family: Araceae

Height: 15 -20

Light: Place peace lilies in a location where they get filtered light, such as a bright window. North or West facing windows are best as these do not allow direct sunlight all day. In too little light, the plants won t bloom properly. In harsh sunlight, they become bleached or dry.

Water: Keep evenly moist. Be sure to use a container with a drainage hole and never allow the plant to stand in water.

Humidity: Mist the leaves several times a week with a spray bottle. Mist your plant more frequently in the summer growing season- the more water you can supply the blooms, the healthier it will be.

Temperature: Growth may cease completely below 70 F, but will resume when warmer weather returns. In winter, anthurium plants need a 6 week rest period at a with little water. This allows the plant to flower profusely again in the following season.

Soil: Any good potting mix that drains well. Mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite will provide the kind of soil anthuriums prefer.

Fertilizer: During growing, fertilizer with slow-release fertilizer or use a 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer at half-strength every month. Iron deficiency can result in yellowing leaves between the veins treat with an iron drench.

Eliminates: Their large, dark leaves suck up ammonia, formaldehyde, toluene and xylene

Caution: Anthurium andraeanum is poisonous to both humans and animals. Care must be taken with small children and pets. If they ingest any part of this plant, they will immediately start to have difficulty swallowing, horseness and blistering in their mouth and throat.

Unsure about your creative gifts?
Format: Paperback
Creativity usually isn't a gift recognized within most churches and, consequently, anyone wanting to use their gifts within that context face discouragement and isolation. Janice Elsheimer recognizes this struggle in her book, The Creative Call: An Artist's Response to the Way of the Spirit. A book applicable to individual or group study, she walks readers simple steps to reclaim that creative spirit. Using practical applications, examples from her own life and exercises within the book, the reader is able to work through stumbling blocks that may inhibit their own growth and, probably most importantly, given permission and affirmation that indeed, their gifts are important and have a place within the modern church.

We LOVED this book!
Format: Paperback
I got a small group together to read and do the exercises in the book. We LOVED the book! I could re-read it every year for the rest of my life, and probably will. Our group have made a lot of changes in our individual art practices, such as seeing it as sacred time between us and God, and putting it ahead of chores. Setting limits with family is still difficult, as we see our ministry to our family to be just as important, but we have made, as a whole, a lot of progress thanks to Janice!

Protect your legacy
Format: Kindle
This book is a gem if you want to learn strategies to protect your business assets from the risks of lawsuits, creditors, and financial write-offs. The book motivates you to learn strategies to take care of your assets in your business and thus have peace of mind that your legacy is protected for future generations of your family. I liked this reading, in addition to learning something new, I did not feel overwhelmed with so many legal terms as in other books, the author has a way of explaining the terms in a clear and simple way and includes practical examples so that one understands it better. It explains how asset protection works, if your business faces legal action it protects your personal assets from being affected and they can be protected by being separated by trusts. It also helps you reduce taxes, give stability to your business and protect your legacy. If you are a business owner, it does not matter if it is large or small, I recommend that you read this book, you will learn a lot, such as the types of trust that exist and which one is appropriate according to your needs and it will serve as a guide to make a protection plan for your assets.
