'Princeton' is perhaps the most famous cultivar of American elm, noted for its moderate resistance to the fearsome Dutch Elm Disease, which has decimated populations of the stately tree across the US. Released in 1922 by nurseryman William Flemer of Princeton Nurseries —  once the largest commercial nursery in the US, at over 1,000 acres — 'Princeton' elm trees can be found lining Pennsylvania Avenue by the White House, in botanical gardens around the world the Arnold Arboretum in Massachusetts to Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew in the UK, and in Princeton, New Jersey, itself, as part of a nearly mile-long colonnade of trees called the Washington Road Elm Allée, planted in the 1920s (of the original 136 elms planted, 76 still survive today). The resistance to Dutch Elm Disease is not complete, but it still considered among the best (along with 'New Harmony') that we have. Typically propagated by cuttings, seeds like these offer the opportunity of finding new cultivars with even more resistance.

American elms, also known sometimes as white elms or water elms, are native to eastern North America. With their broad, arching branches, wide crowns, and dark green leaves that turn yellow in fall, along with excellent cold hardiness and tolerance of urban conditions, American elms became the street tree of choice across much of the United States during the 19th and early 20th cenuries. Before that, Indigenous people and European colonizers utilized them for a wide variety of medicinal purposes as well, especially respiratory issues like coughs, colds, influenza, lung infections, etc. A fiber from the stems can be used to make paper. The inner bark has been used to make a coffee substitute. And believe it or not, the young leaves are edible and actually taste pretty good — raw or cooked!

GROWING TIPS: Plant in early spring. Seeds need no stratification. Do not grow trees in a nursery bed or pot for transplanting for more than a year (two at most), because they form a long taproot and do not like to be moved.

Perfect First Toy for Tiny Puppies – Lightweight, Engaging, and a Great Value
Color: Teething Stick, Color: Teething Stick
This Cool Teething Stick has been the absolute best first toy for our 1.5 pound puppy! It’s incredibly lightweight, making it easy for even the tiniest pups to pick up, carry, and play with independently. The soft crinkle sound keeps him entertained without being overwhelming, and the little ribbon ends plus the triangular shapes add just the right amount of texture and interest. For the quality, design, and how much joy it brings, the price is unbeatable. At $4.99, this is an easy must-buy for anyone with a young or very small puppy. Highly recommend for a tiny puppy. I do think the durability could be an issue for a large puppy. Keep in mind this puppy is under 2 pounds.

My puppy loves it
Color: Teething Stick
It's cute and a good size for my chihuahua puppy. It seems to be slightly tearing at the seam in the middle, but hopefully it will hold up.

Good size for my pug!
Color: Dentachew 3 Pk
I love how it’s a good size for my pug it is easy for her to play around with. I had stuffed animals for her to play around with but it looked so silly to watch her play with something that is 10 times as big as her 😂. I had to buy her these toys and she seemed so happy when she first got them. It was so funny and interesting that she had to chew all three toys and decide which one she liked. At first she decided to play with the rope toy and she liked the rope toy, then she got curious with the rubber toys. She has decided that the rubber toys are her favorite and I’ve tried to engage with playing with her with the rope toy. She gets more interactive with the rubber toys! She also looked so relieved while chewing them so that’s a plus!

Dog loved, started to break down after 10 minutes.
Color: Hedgehog, Color: Hedgehog
I don’t know why it’s so difficult to find a quality teething toy that won’t begin to break down within (in this case) the first 10 minutes. I have a 17lb, 5 mos old Bernedoodle and she’d broken two pieces off the snout in 10 minutes and tried eating them. Yeah, yeah, they’d most likely pass - but this shouldn’t happen with a product specifically sold as a dog chew toy and listed for teething. On the plus side, she loves it - but I can’t obsessively monitor her every second of her teething either. Hit with the dog, frustrating for the ‘parent’.

Get this for your teething pup ASAP!!!
Color: Hedgehog
Immediately calmed my Bichon Frise puppy who is going through a tough teething & nipping phase ... None of the other teething toys were really engaging him, so as a result he would get restless and start biting at air, lol. This worked immediately at keeping him occupied and content. It also freezes great for him to cool his gums after a nap. Get this teether, you will not regreat it!
