Lithops 'Living Stones' Highlights: 

• Lithops 'Living Stones' are mesembs originally from South Africa that thrive in full sun, under extended periods of drought, and in very well draining soil.  This unique succulent grows with only the top of its leaves visible above ground and is colored to camouflage into its surroundings. 
• Produces medium-sized flowers that vary in color from white to yellow and typically bloom in the fall. 
• Lithops split open after they bloom and eventually new sets of leaves emerge. Never water your Lithops while they are split open. This greatly increases the risk of your Lithops rotting. Only water your Lithops while the leaves are closed and while blooming. However, always water sparingly. 
• Hardy to Zone 10 (30° F). Lithops will not survive a hard frost. However, succulents can easily be grown indoors under grow lights or in a sunny window if there is a risk of temperatures dropping below 30° F. If there is only a risk of freezing temperatures for a few days, most succulents do just fine outside if they are covered by frost cloth or a sheet until temperatures increase (I'm talking to you, Zone 9 friends). 

Lithops Care: As with all succulents, it is best to follow a "soak and dry" schedule where you water your plants deeply (until water runs out the bottom drain holes), and then allow your soil to dry completely before watering again. Succulents should always be planted in well-draining cactus and succulent soil and in a pot or container that has drain holes. Lithops require less water than the typical succulent.
