Placement: The philodendron prefers a bright area, sheltered from direct sunlight. However, it will also tolerate a darker spot. The foliage will become greener if placed in a shadier area.
Watering: The soil should be neither too wet nor too dry. Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry partially between waterings. Make sure the pot has good drainage.
Soil: The philodendron prefers nutrient-rich soil that retains moisture well.

This variety has nectar-producing glands on the back of its leaves. The nectar serves to attract ants searching for food – thus, the plant gains chemical substances secreted by them, but also benefits from the aggressive way ant colonies defend their territory and food source, protecting the philodendron from other harmful insects.
