The primary advantage of this growing medium is that it retains optimal amounts of water while quickly draining excess. This helps promote healthy root growth and also helps prevent root rot. The neutral components (lava, pumice and calcined clay) break down very slowly if at all, which allows for less frequent repotting and helps keep drainage holes free of debris.
Because this soil contains a minimum of organic material, we recommend you apply fertilizer. Especially during the growing season.
