Epipremnum Shangri La – A Unique Twisting Pothos with Exotic Foliage

The Epipremnum Shangri La is a rare and highly sought-after Pothos variety, known for its distinctive, tightly curled leaves that unfurl into deep green, textured foliage. This unique mutation of Epipremnum aureum combines the easy-care nature of traditional Pothos with a bold, sculptural appearance, making it a must-have for collectors and interior plant enthusiasts.

Gallery Note
Twisted, sculptural foliage with painterly splashes of cream and lime over deep green. ‘Shangri-La’ curls and puckers into a living art piece—compact yet dramatic on shelves, or boldly vertical when supported.

Form & Texture

  • Botanical: Epipremnum aureum ‘Shangri-La’ (variegated form)
  • Habit: vine with naturally puckered, rolled blades; denser nodes under steady brightness
  • Leaf character: crinkled hearts, marbled in cream/lime; matte-to-satin finish
  • Indoor span: ~35–80 cm (14–31 in) with light training
  • Pet note: keep out of nibbling reach

Light & Atmosphere
Soft, indirect brightness (north/east glow or a bright room behind sheers) keeps the cream sectors crisp and the curls tidy. Typical home comfort works well: ~45–65% RH; 18–29 °C (65–85 °F). Avoid harsh midday beams.

Water & Substrate
Irrigate once the surface layer feels dry—then soak thoroughly and let runoff clear. Choose a breathable, fast-draining blend (bark chips + pumice/perlite + coco fiber) so roots stay oxygenated and leaves hold their sculpted shape.

Display & Training
Let vines drape for a soft ribbon effect, or guide a leader up a slim pole/plank to tighten internodes and emphasize the curled silhouette. Neutral planters (stone, sand, matte white) highlight the marbling from across the room.

Nutrition & Upkeep
Feed lightly at ¼–½ strength during active months. Tip-prune to thicken the canopy; rotate the planter every couple of weeks for an even, gallery-clean presentation.

Acclimation Cue
After placement, ramp brightness gradually over 7–10 days. New flushes typically show the sharpest cream strokes and the most refined curl.

Ok content, not great explanations (2.5 our of 5 stars)
Format: Paperback
I found the contents of this book to be simply ok: either too simple, or the more complicated algorithms and concepts would not be as carefully explained as they should have been. It is not a terrible book, but it feels as though the author did not go over many drafts/iterations of this work.

An Excellent Self-Discovery Approach to Learning Algorithms
Format: Paperback
I have an Ivy League Master's Degree in Computer Science although it was accomplished 35 years ago. Of course, I had to complete an ACM-type course in Algorithms and Data Structures on the undergraduate and graduate level and managed to by rote accomplish enough to satisfy these courses. But until seeing this great book I never had the feeling of gaining an understanding of the approach to learning and building algorithms and the extent to which it is an important component of all programs. By a journey of guided self-discovery the author shows, not only the necessity of algorithms and their canonical forms, but a path to understanding the construction of algorithms to accomplish common and not so common practical problems. These range from the simple to understand, e.g. implementing Russian Peasant Multiplication, to advanced and up to date topics like Machine Learning. The highest praise I can give this book is that as a journey of guided self-discovery it produces an understanding in the reader of the process of constructing and understanding these algorithms and their place in all programming.

Easy to understand, makes algorithms exciting again!
Format: Kindle
Dive Into Algorithms speaks to me directly as a very intrepid beginner myself. I was given another "learn Python" book several years ago and it languishes on a shelf undisturbed to this day. Dive Into Algorithms had me hooked by the first parfait recipe. Mr. Tuckfield explains concepts in such a way that any student can learn something. The history, physics, cooking, and math lessons teach us that algorithms are everywhere, and they're not big scary 'big data' monsters out to ruin us. Instead, they're tools to help understand the world around us. This book has made me excited about programming again. Thank you.

Don't buy. Author's okay effort to publish what seems like a rough draft.
Format: Paperback
Poorly written, unnecessarily complex wording to code introduction/explanations, and path to solutions (cover to cover of the book) are the most bizarre of choices. Excessively wordy and dramatic (i.e. "let me tell you the entire history of human kind before we dive into anything programming/problem solving related." ). Either he's new to publishing or programming, or both. PASS.
