Here is a perennial, herbaceous vine, native to tropical Asia and Africa. It belongs to the pea or legume family (Fabaceae) and is a medicinal herb treasure chest. Royal blue flowers occur on a tender vine and are Clitoris-like in shape, hence name of the plant. It can grow fast up to 15 feet, with fine pinnate foliage. It is an easy plant to care for, not invasive, controllable, and not messy. An excellent choice for hanging baskets. It prefers partial shade and quite tolerant of drought. Said to bloom within 1-2 months from seed.
Blooms year-round in warmer regions. Hardy to 30 degrees F. For all practical purposes, protect from frost. May be grown as an annual in the temperate north.
Flowers contain the powerful natural antioxidant blue proanthocyanidin and not only are they eaten as a vegetable, but they are used for food coloring and making blue herbal tea as a wellness drink. It is a high-quality, protein-rich legume, a "tropical alfalfa" often referred to as a protein bank that can be grown at low cost. Livestock tend to prefer it over other legumes and grasses and it is therefore much valued as a pasture legume. It is also used for cut-and-carry feeding systems and cut for hay and silage. It's nitrogen-fixing and is used as a ley legume or as green manure. It is a valuable cover crop in rubber and coconut plantations.
All parts of this vine, meaning roots, seeds, flowers and leaves have been used over centuries, with excellent results, in traditional Indian medicine as a memory enhancer, nootropic, antistress, anxiolytic, antidepressant, anticonvulsant, tranquilizing and sedative agent (local anesthetics). It contains peptides called cliotides that have potent anti-microbial properties against Escherichia coli. Its extracts possess a wide range of pharmacological activities including antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, antidiabetic, insecticidal, blood platelet aggregation-inhibiting and for its vascular smooth muscle relaxing properties.

Our dogs hurt their mouths chewing these bones

I don't do a lot of reviews because I realize many are objective opinions. However, in this case I felt it was necessary to warn others. Our dogs are aggressive chewers. Their last rubber bones (not these) which we've purchased before, and recently purchased again, were destroyed quickly. Chunks of rubber came off the ends. Since those didn't hold up like they used to, I found these harder bones hoping they would last longer. They were able to gnaw into the hard plastic within a few minutes. This created sharp edges that cut their mouths. When I saw a bit of blood on the bones, I took them away from the dogs and threw them away. I wondered why they quit chewing on them after being so excited at first. Also, these are hard enough to damage a tooth.

Durable but losses interest

My dog is an aggressive chewer. She was interested in this toy while it was new, but soon after lost interest. Good news is although it took a beating it did not break or splinter. If soppy toys are disposable in your house, give it a try.

Not strong enough for chewing
My 7 month old pup chewed the end off, where the treats go, within 30 minutes of having it. Shes a Staffordshire terrior, but shes only 30 pounds. She swallowed some of the plastic so be careful if you buy this.

Durable and loved by my dog.

I recently bought this toy for my German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix, and I can't express enough how much she adores it. The durability of the material is impressive; it withstands her enthusiastic chewing without showing any signs of wear and tear. Its size is perfect for her to carry around with ease, and it keeps her thoroughly entertained for hours.
I've noticed that there’s no color transfer or degradation from her vigorous play, which gives me peace of mind. I can let her enjoy it without constant supervision, as I trust that she won't be able to chew off any little pieces that could pose a choking hazard. All in all, it's an incredible value for the quality, and I’ll definitely be purchasing another one for her in the near future.
