Rainier Cherry Tree is a beloved sweet cherry variety celebrated for its exceptional flavor, striking color, and reliable productivity. The Rainier Cherry (Prunus avium ‘Rainier’) produces large, golden-yellow fruit blushed with rose-red, offering a uniquely sweet, low-acid taste that stands apart from darker varieties. Its firm, juicy flesh and delicate aroma make it a favorite for fresh eating, baking, and preserving, with a flavor profile often considered among the finest of all cherries.

This vigorous, productive cherry tree thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, performing best in regions with moderate to high chill hours. Rainier is not self-fruitful and requires a compatible pollinator—such as Bing, Black Tartarian, or Lapins—to produce heavy crops. Once established, it offers abundant harvests of premium-quality cherries that ripen in early to mid-summer, making it one of the season’s most anticipated fruits.

Ornamental as well as productive, the Rainier Cherry Tree bursts into bloom each spring with clusters of soft white blossoms, adding beauty and pollinator interest to home orchards and edible landscapes. Its strong growth habit and reliable performance make it a top choice for gardeners seeking a high-quality sweet cherry that delivers both exceptional flavor and visual appeal.

For anyone looking to grow a premium sweet cherry tree with standout flavor and striking fruit, Rainier Cherry remains a classic choice—loved by home gardeners, orchardists, and fruit enthusiasts alike.

Special Growing Conditions:

Growing cherry trees has never been easier. You can grow cherries masterfully with our guidance. Cultivating Rainier cherry trees requires specific care and attention to ensure a bountiful harvest of these precious fruits. Here are some key considerations for successful Rainier cherry tree cultivation:

  • Climate: Rainier cherry trees thrive in regions with a Mediterranean climate, characterized by mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. They require a certain number of chill hours (around 700-800) during the winter to break dormancy and set fruit.

  • Soil: Well-draining, loamy soils with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level (around 6.0 to 7.0) are ideal for Rainier cherry trees. Good soil preparation is crucial to ensure proper root development and nutrient uptake.

  • Sunlight: Rainier cherry trees require full sun exposure for at least 6 to 8 hours a day. Adequate sunlight ensures healthy growth and high-quality fruit production.

  • Pruning and Training: Pruning is essential to maintain tree structure, encourage airflow, and promote fruit production. Rainier cherry trees are typically trained to an open-center or modified central leader system to facilitate light penetration.

  • Irrigation: Consistent and deep watering is essential, especially during the growing season and fruit development. Proper irrigation helps prevent issues like cracking and split fruit. A well draining soil will help to prevent root rot.

  • Pest and Disease Management: Regular monitoring and management of common pests and diseases, such as aphids, cherry fruit fly, and brown rot, are necessary to protect the Rainier cherry crop.

The Rainier cherry tree is a marvel of fruit cultivation, offering a visual feast with its golden-yellow cherries and a taste sensation with its exceptional sweetness and nuanced flavor. Originating from Washington State University, this cherry variety requires specific growing conditions to thrive, making it a favorite among cherry enthusiasts and growers alike. Nice wedge pillow but not enough...
Color: Cool Grey, Size: 24x24x12 inch
It came compacted and when I opened it expanded almost immediately, maybe took like 20 minutes to fully decompress. Its soft and comfortable and the cover is really nice. But it does have a strong chemical smell, which is normal for this kind of brand new memory foam, I just put it on a table with a window open near it and after maybe 24 hours the smell was almost completely gone. The problem is that I bought this to have a elevated position when sleeping but the 30° are just not enough for me. I wish it was at least 45° but I could not find any pillow with that amount of degree... it's either 30° or like 75° in the other position. At the base of the pillow there is a little ridge that is comfortable for the lower back but makes me slide down in the middle of the night so I end up almost laying flat with my neck on the base ridge. With my slim build my lumbar area gets some nice support but makes my head almost have a "fall backwards" sensation, I like having my neck have a "push-forward" position with my pillow, but when adding another pillow to try and get to a comfortable position it only makes me slide down even more... :/

Very firm and durable
Color: Cool Grey, Size: 24x24x12 inch
worked great for husbands surgery recovery. Very affordable, firmness was great, looked nice on the bed and also used it for the grandkids when they were watching a movie. Moved around with ease. Didn't use it to sleep with all night though. He could only make it half the night but that wasn't the pillows fault. It was the cast on his arm. Definitely did its purpose after surgery and the need to sit up in bed more. highly recommend

I have an upcoming surgery too, so i'm glad I was able to test it out a week prior and see how it can help me prop up in bed. Feeling better about my upcoming recovery knowing i'll have this great pillow to support me!

Literally perfect and exactly what I needed!
Color: Cool Grey, Size: 24x24x12 inch
I can't recommend this enough! It was exactly what i was looking for! I have an annoying habit of researching everything for months before I purchase something that will get used this often. I finally decided on this one and I was very pleasantly surprised. I needed a wedge pillow to put at my back while sitting in bed. Mostly for when I'm working on my laptop. This one was the perfect height and perfect fit for me.I'm a female that is 5'4 and weigh about 117pds. I wanted something firm enough to support my back, and this most certainly does! It had a very pleasant appearance with the light gray sides. It has a removable cover I can take off and wash when needed. It's portable enough to move from room to room, also works great on my couch and it has amazing versatility. It can also be used as a pillow for someone that might need to sleep at a slight incline. It also works if you need to prop your legs up. It came vacuum packed. Once opened It said to let is sit for at least 24-48 hrs to give it time to properly inflate. For me, It plumped right up immediately! Again, from someone that does her research, if your looking for something like this at a reasonable price, this is it!
