These tags are from three separate vendors... white and green are from my old vendor who no longer makes colored tags... they are VINYL (the best for tags, but harder and harder to find) and have a beautiful matt surface and are nice to write on in PENCIL.  Tan, red, yellow, orange and lime green are plastic, with a smooth surface.

Any tag that will be in the sun should be written in pencil, however, as it doesn't fade.  Even the most popular permanent markers fade in the sun.
