Lavandula 'Lilac Lace'

Lavandula 'Lilac Lace,' commonly known as Lilac Lace Lavender, is a compact, evergreen shrub admired for its showy lilac-pink flower bracts that bloom above aromatic, gray-green foliage. Its distinctive, frilled blooms appear from spring through summer, attracting bees and other pollinators while adding soft colour and fragrance to the landscape. Growing to a height of 0.5–0.7 meters, 'Lilac Lace' is ideal for borders, cottage gardens, containers, or as a low, fragrant hedge.

Position

Lilac Lace Lavender thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, slightly alkaline to neutral soil. It is well-suited to warm, dry climates and is moderately drought-tolerant once established. Although it can withstand light frost, it may require winter protection in colder regions to maintain health and vigor.

Growth

This moderate-growing shrub reaches a mature height of 0.5–0.7 meters with a similar spread, forming a dense, rounded mound. Its soft lilac-pink blooms and aromatic, finely textured foliage make it an excellent choice for edging walkways, filling garden beds, or as an accent in containers.

Planting Guide

Lavandula 'Lilac Lace' grows best in well-drained, sandy or loamy soil. Plant in spring, spacing plants about 50–60 cm apart to allow for spreading. For container planting, use a high-quality Mediterranean plant mix and place the container in a sunny location. Water thoroughly after planting, and apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture, keeping it clear of the crown to avoid rot.

Plant Care

Water regularly during the establishment period, then reduce watering, as Lilac Lace Lavender prefers drier conditions once mature. Lightly prune after flowering to shape the plant and encourage additional blooming. Fertilise sparingly, as too much nutrition can reduce its fragrance and resilience. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering, and give a more thorough prune in early spring to maintain its compact form.

Works when working outside and heavy activities
Style: SPF 50, Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I use it as an Amazon delivery driver, and it works in the heat and sweat is no issue it does last for 2 hours. Reapplying it is extremely easy, no burns or sun damage to my skin. I can tell you it works cause I’m recovering from skin cancer and it works no problems or anything.

Just ok - too thick to apply evenly
Style: SPF 50, Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Just ok - very thick, so difficult to apply evenly. I use this for outdoor cycling and it works, but it's so thick that it tends to clump instead of smoothly covering the skin.

Excellent mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin.
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Set name: Tube - 3 oz.
I’ve been using the Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen, and it’s become a staple in my routine. As someone with sensitive skin, I really appreciate that it’s fragrance-free and uses zinc oxide, providing great protection without causing any irritation or breakouts. It goes on smoothly, isn't overly greasy, and the water resistance holds up well for outdoor activities. The smart cap technology is a nice touch, too. Highly recommended if you’re looking for effective, non-irritating sun protection.

No chemicals that will be harmful!
Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Set name: Tube - 5 oz. 2-Pack
Ordered this mineral sunscreen looking for something simple and effective, and it’s been a solid option so far. The zinc oxide formula is the main reason I went with it. It doesn’t rely on the same chemical ingredients found in a lot of other sunscreens, which is a big plus if you’re trying to avoid that. It feels like a cleaner option overall. Coverage is good. It spreads evenly and holds up well, even with some water exposure. I’ve used it outdoors for extended periods, and it does its job without needing constant reapplication. It does leave a slight white cast at first, which is pretty typical with mineral sunscreens, but it fades in as you rub it in. Not completely invisible, but manageable. After a few uses, what stood out most is that it doesn’t have a strong smell and doesn’t irritate the skin. It just works without a lot of extras. Compared to standard chemical sunscreens, this feels more straightforward and less harsh, especially for regular use. For the price, it’s a great value. You’re getting strong sun protection without the added ingredients some people try to avoid. If you’re looking for a mineral-based sunscreen that’s effective and a bit cleaner in formulation, this is a solid choice.
