Sunset Patio Blend includes Lilium x asiaticum varieties, or Asiatic lilies, known for their strength and ability to overwinter in the ground as hardy perennials (Zones 3-8). With their upright habit, they make a striking visual impact when grouped in masses, whether planted in decorative pots, containers, or beds and borders. Sunset Patio Blend Asiatic lilies are highly prized for their vibrant blooms, making them a great addition to a cutting garden. If growing in containers, remove the root ball after flowering and plant in the garden prior to frost to over winter.
Asiatic lilies from the Sunset Patio Blend flourish in sunny spots with 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight but can also adapt to partial shade. To promote healthy growth, mulch well to keep the roots cool and pair with low-growing plants for added shade at their base. They thrive in rich, organic soil that is medium moist and well-draining but perform well in average soil conditions. It's important to maintain consistent moisture without overwatering to avoid bulb rot. Remove spent blooms promptly and trim back foliage only after it has yellowed. These Asiatic lilies are both deer and critter resistant, ensuring their beauty lasts throughout the season.
For best results, plant Sunset Patio Blend Asiatic lily bulbs 3 to 4 inches deep in early spring.
