This species does require a bit of care to start, but they are well worth it! Simply follow our easy step by step instructions shown below for success. (A printed version of this info will also be included with your seeds.)

Protea Sowing Instructions

- Soak the seeds in seed-safe fungicide or 1% hydrogen peroxide for 24 hrs.
- For the best germination, smoke treat the seeds. (Disc, tab, or natural.)
- Use sterile substrate & containers.
- A good medium is 2:2:1 coarse sand / coco peat / perlite or vermiculite.
- The substrate's pH should be 5 - 6.
- Sow the seeds in 1/4" deep in a tray or 500 ml clear plastic seedling bags with drainage holes. Clear cover tray or close the bags to trap humidity.
- They need fluctuating temperatures.
   Daytime temps should be 75 - 85F.
   Nighttime temps should be 55 - 60F.
- Keep soil moist, but not soggy. Never allow it to dry out completely.
- Germination time is 1 - 3 months.

A great top & very sturdy!
Style: Fish
Beau was a little shy with the fish at first but now he loves it! I have had a “million laughs”. This is my second fish - present for my “grand dog” at X-mas. They are very study and holds up very well. Really a nice toy!

So cute, my dog loves it
Style: Lobster
My dog (15 lb Morkie) loves this toy. It was his gift for Christmas. My little guy is like a child, he gets so excited when he gets new toys. I can’t speak much on durability because my dog isn’t known to destroy toys. But in our case, it’s still in great condition. I love the charging feature. We had a previous toy that required batteries and it was a pain. I keep the charging cord tucked inside the toy pocket so it doesn’t get lost. It’s also motion activated, so if someone walks by it, it will began wiggling. Although I’m starting to wonder if my house is haunted because the toy will turn on by itself.

Amazingly Tough!
Style: Whale
This is one of our pup’s favorite toys, so much so that we always have a couple around. So far, our very-active, very destructive, deaf mixed-breed puppy has only managed to destroy one. And it was the plushie that failed, not the mechanism. Only reason I subtracted a star is that I’ve gotten a couple where the sensitivity is set WAY too high, as in, maybe it’s cosmic rays, setting it off? But other than that, great toy for a dog with high prey-drive.
