Echium wildpretii, also known as Tower of Jewels or Tenerife Bugloss, is a remarkable biennial plant native to the Canary Islands. Its striking appearance is defined by a tall, erect stem covered in a profusion of tubular, crimson-red flowers that emerge in a spiraling pattern. This stunning floral display, which can reach impressive heights, creates a visual spectacle and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. The Tower of Jewels exhibits a unique life cycle, growing leaves in the first year and then sending up its spectacular flowering stalk in the second. Its rare beauty and architectural structure make it a sought-after addition to gardens, especially in Mediterranean or arid landscapes, where its dramatic presence adds a touch of exotic allure.  Zones 8-11  Biennial

Germination

Echium wildpretii, commonly known as the Tower of Jewels, requires specific conditions for successful seed germination. Begin by preparing a well-draining seed-starting mix, such as a combination of peat moss, perlite, and sand. Fill seed trays or pots with the mix and moisten it thoroughly. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and press them lightly into the mix without covering them, as they need light for germination. Mist the surface with water to ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Maintain a consistently moist environment by covering the trays or pots with a clear plastic lid or plastic wrap. Place them in a bright location with indirect sunlight, maintaining a temperature range of 18-22°C (64-72°F) for optimal germination. Germination typically occurs within 2-3 weeks. Once the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, they can be carefully transplanted into larger pots or directly into the garden. Ensure the garden soil is well-draining and the plants receive full sunlight. Regular watering and proper care will help the seedlings thrive and grow into healthy Echium wildpretii plants.

Surviving a 8 month old heavy chewer
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
My dog is OK with it but doesn't like it as good as the whale indestructible toy I got her previously. She chews on it a little while and quits. She acts almost like it makes her nauseated. Idk though.... It gets very very sharp! Be careful grabbing it after they've chewed it.

Always great for keeping dogs out of trouble
My dogs love Nyla bones, no matter flavor. They simply love them. I replace them often when they start getting too old and chewed out.
