Podocarpus Macrophyllus Bonsai – Buddhist Pine (7-8 Years Old)

An elegant evergreen bonsai with long, narrow, glossy dark-green leaves that give it a soft, fern-like appearance and timeless beauty. This well-developed 7-8 year old Podocarpus macrophyllus is a popular choice for indoor bonsai enthusiasts in Denmark and rewards careful care with steady growth and graceful styling.

Key Specifications

  • Age: 7-8 years
  • Height: 35-40 cm (including pot)
  • Species: Podocarpus macrophyllus (Buddhist Pine / Yew Plum Pine / Fern Pine)
  • Style: Classic evergreen with fine branching and soft needle-like foliage

Why Choose This Bonsai?

Podocarpus macrophyllus is cherished for its leathery, lance-shaped leaves and slow, manageable growth. Often called the Buddhist Pine, it has a calm, refined presence and is one of the few conifers well-suited to indoor living. It can produce small flowers and fruits under good conditions, making it both decorative and rewarding for beginners and experienced growers alike.

Care Guide – Excellent Indoor Bonsai with Summer Outdoor Benefits

  • Light: Bright indirect light or several hours of direct morning/evening sun. Indoors: best near a south- or west-facing window. In darker Danish winters, supplement with a full-spectrum grow light (12–14 hours daily) to prevent leggy growth and maintain compact foliage. Insufficient light causes larger, paler leaves.
  • Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 cm feels dry. Avoid letting it dry out completely or sitting in water.
  • Temperature & Placement: Ideal indoor range 16–23 °C (60–75 °F). It can stay indoors year-round but benefits greatly from being placed outdoors in semi-shade during summer (protected from strong midday sun). Bring indoors before night temperatures drop below 10 °C (50 °F). In winter, cooler temperatures (10–15 °C / 50–59 °F) with bright light are preferred for healthier growth; warmer rooms are acceptable with strong lighting and increased humidity.
  • Indoor Success Tips: This species adapts very well to indoor conditions in Denmark when given sufficient bright light and moderate humidity. Many customers enjoy vibrant, compact growth indoors year-round with the help of grow lights in winter. Mist occasionally or use a humidity tray, especially near radiators. Rotate the tree regularly for even light exposure.
  • Fertilising: Feed every 2 weeks during the growing season (spring to autumn) with a balanced bonsai fertiliser. Reduce frequency in winter.
  • Repotting: Every 2–3 years in early spring with light root pruning, using well-draining bonsai soil.

Honest note: Podocarpus macrophyllus is one of the easiest conifers for indoor bonsai culture in Europe. It tolerates apartment living better than most temperate species when light is adequate. For the healthiest and most compact tree, we recommend giving it outdoor time in summer and cooler winter conditions whenever possible. With dedication to lighting, it will thrive beautifully in your home.

my new favorite book
Format: Kindle
Ok so I never write reviews but this book was so good I felt the need to write this. Firstly your introduced to Huntyr you see her closed off hard core badass than towards the end you see the most subtle change and growth it’s amazing and the enemies to friends to lovers was just perfect, AND THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME GOOD! You see one spicy scene the whole book but it doesn’t even MATTER BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. I’ve read 85 books in 2023-2024 so far and I’m pround to say this is my all time favorite. I’m so excited to read more of Emily Blackwoods books, this was my first time reading one of hers and I’m glad I did because HOLY!! Well done Emily well done

Fast paced romantasy you will not want to put down!
Format: Kindle
4.25 stars! I LOVED this book with similar vibes to Hush Hush, Fourth Wing, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night! It was fast paced with easy world building and will keep you turning the pages late into the night because you will not want to put it down! Huntyr is a fierce bad@ss FMC trained to kill vampyres her entire life. She is sent on a mission to go to the academy and earn her spot into The Golden City. Upon arrival, she is forced to room with the delicious fallen angel, Wolf, who is the only one who knows about her assassin identity. The romance, the plot twists, the secrets revealed, the battles, and the tantalizing training scenes had me hooked! And that ending…. I’m holding my breath in need to know hell! Read if you love: 🪽 Fae, Vampyres, Fallen Angels 🪽 Academy setting with magical trials 🪽 Forced proximity and slow burn 🪽 Rivals to lovers 🪽 Hidden identities and secrets 🪽 Tend your wounds “𝘖𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Excellent Rivals to Lovers!!
Format: Kindle
The tension and banter between Huntyr and Wold was delectable. I absolutely love the fallen angel and all of his flaws. Huntyr is amazing too being a badass FMC with some major trauma. The world building was great and I enjoyed the training aspect of the story. The writing was immersive and was in the story the whole time. The ending had quite a twist that I hadn’t anticipated and made my jaw DROP. Excellent job! I also loved the narration. Laura is one of my fave narrators!

Unexpectedly emotional and packed with action!
Format: Kindle
Why do I suddenly want nothing more than a tiny wyvern to snuggle with?! It’s adorable and I absolutely love all of those moments! Wings of Stars was everything I’ve come expect from this powerful author duo. The fact that it’s written by two different people is completely transparent to the reader and they’ve brought us another world and characters that we’re all emotionally connected to and fully invested in! The injustice that we see from Alfemir in the many forms in which it comes is infuriating and makes me desperate for the conclusion of the story so they can all get what’s coming to them! I love all the guys right now, with one exception, and if you’re read it, you know exactly who I’m talking about. Bastian is hilarious - he was the comedic relief through an otherwise quite serious story. My heart bleeds for him and I can’t wait to see how he progresses through the series. Parts of Wings of Stars were unexpectedly emotional and of course I was left with my jaw on the floor at that cliffhanger! Next, please!

Niz !!!
Format: Kindle
First, let me say that I love both of these authors. I have been hooked by both ever since I discovered their writings, and I follow their social media groups closely. This book did not disappoint. Sure, there are several questions that I have, a couple of times I went huh (which I won't get into because I do not want to offer any spoilers) and I hated the cliff hanger lol, but I cannot lie and say I didn't love the book, because I did. The twist on angels was new and fresh, even though that is part of my questions. The beginning and ending were the better parts, the middle was needed but sorta bogged a little. Kieran was confusing but relatable. Niz is BY FAR the best character of the book, love NIZ. For me, Bastian is a close second, always loved the crazy ones. The other men were good, but Steele gets on my nerves and as of right now, IMO, he doesn't belong, but we will see how that goes. I have lots of questions, but this was an excellent start to a new series and I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommend
