Long, narrow and heavily veined leaves with orange stems

Philodendron billietiae is a striking species from northeastern Brazil and Suriname with long, pendulous leaves that can reach up to 1 meter in length and 30 centimeters in width. The most characteristic feature is the orange-colored petioles that contrast beautifully with the matte, dark green leaves with light green to yellow veins and slightly wavy surfaces.

Unlike many other philodendron species, P. billietiae grows in sunny, exposed locations rather than in the shady undergrowth of the rainforest. It grows as an epiphyte or hemiepiphyte, almost always starting out on rocks before climbing up surrounding plants as it grows larger.

The plant usually has only a few leaves at a time and regularly sheds older leaves, leaving mature specimens with only the top part of the long stem green. With ample light, the leaves are held almost vertically.

This makes P. billietiae surprisingly well suited as a houseplant, it can handle dry air much better than many other philodendron species with long leaves. However, it needs warmth and a very bright location to grow well. Summer placement outdoors in the garden or on the balcony benefits the plant, and with some acclimatization it even tolerates direct sun. Thrives in well-drained soil with moderate watering and monthly fertilization during the growing season.

Botanical description

Philodendron billietiae comes from Guyana and Brazil (Pará). The name billietiae comes from Frieda Billiet who first described the species.

Care

Philodendron billietiae is one of the easier-to-care-for indoor green plants. To thrive, this cold-hardy plant needs to be grown in well-drained soil, such as our aroid & orchid soil .

Plant the plant in a clear plastic pot so you can easily see how the roots are doing through the pot. Water when the soil is only slightly moist 1-2 cm below the surface. If using a clear orchid pot, you can also know it's time to water when no mist is visible through the pot.

When the roots seem to be running out of space, it's time to repot your Philodendron. It thrives best in bright indirect light or direct sun. Buy Philodendron billietiae online!

The most complete, compact wallet I've ever seen!!
This is the most complete, compact wallet I have ever seen, there is a space for everything, even coins. I ordered 2, one for me and one for him. Mine does not fit in my purse, it's 10 inches long. I'm debating, should I return mine or keep it. I've searched for one similar, less than 10 inches, and found nothing. He is so excited and happy, he has already filled his up. This is the only wallet one needs AND it's RFID blocking.

Cute and comfortable. Good deal. Love the chunky, soft platform sole. Might purchase the cream colored ones also. I have planters faceitis and these were comfortable all day.

Size: 8, Color: Egret/Lavender/Multi
Okay im absolutely freaking obsessed with these shoes! These are so darn comfortable AND cute! Im going to be buying only these for sandals from here on out. Im short, like 5 ft. I like that these give me a little height, but while also being so stupid comfortable that I can wear them legit all day long. I have arthritis and my feet tend to swell if im not comfortable. So these are my new favorite shoe for sure!
