Vibrant, Medicinal Superfood and Spice

Common Names: Turmeric, Orange Turmeric, Indian Saffron
Family: Zingiberaceae
Origin: South Asia (India, Southeast Asia)

Orange Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a perennial herb known for its bright orange rhizomes, which have been used for centuries as a spice, natural dye, and powerful medicinal ingredient. Turmeric is celebrated for its vibrant color and earthy, peppery flavor with a slight bitterness, commonly used in curry powders and many Asian and Middle Eastern dishes. Beyond its culinary uses, Turmeric is prized for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, largely attributed to its active compound, curcumin. The plant thrives in warm, tropical climates and produces beautiful, cone-shaped, white or pink flowers, making it an attractive addition to gardens and containers.

Distinctive Features, Uses, and Nutritional Value

Rhizomes: Turmeric is primarily grown for its underground rhizomes, which are bright orange when cut open. The rhizomes are harvested, dried, and ground into the familiar yellow-orange powder used in cooking and traditional medicine. Rich in curcumin, Turmeric has been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and digestive benefits. It is also a source of vitamins C and E, as well as minerals like iron and manganese.

Foliage: Turmeric has large, lush, lance-shaped green leaves that grow up to 3 feet tall, creating a striking tropical appearance in the garden.

Growth Habit: Turmeric is a fast-growing, herbaceous perennial that thrives in warm, tropical climates. It forms dense clumps of leaves and underground rhizomes and typically grows to about 3-4 feet tall. The plant also produces showy, white or pink flowers on tall, cone-shaped spikes.

Culinary and Medicinal Uses

Turmeric is a staple in many cuisines, particularly in Indian, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern cooking. Its earthy, slightly bitter flavor adds depth to curries, soups, stews, and rice dishes. In traditional medicine, particularly in Ayurveda, Turmeric has been used for centuries to treat inflammation, digestive issues, and skin conditions. The rhizomes can be used fresh, dried, or ground into powder, and Turmeric is commonly made into teas, supplements, or used topically for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

From 2 minutes to 10—he actually enjoys his meal now
Color: Orange, Color: Orange
I’m really happy with this slow feeder, and my dog seems to love it too. He used to just chomp his food down in about two minutes, but now he actually takes his time and it keeps him busy for at least 10 or 15 minutes. I usually mix a little dry food with some soft food and use the included blue spatula to really mash the soft food down into the grooves. Doing that makes him eat even slower because he has to lick it out, and I think he enjoys his food a lot more now that he isn't just rushing through it. It’s actually pretty cool to watch him because he’ll eat a little, then sit or lay down and just watch his bowl before getting back to it. He’s very territorial about his food and doesn't want the cat coming anywhere near it, so he stays right there to guard it while he takes his breaks. The suction on the bottom is extremely strong and stays put on the floor, so I don't have to worry about the bowl sliding around. I even tested it on a hallway wall and it stuck so well I was worried about the paint, but I figured out that if you pull it down instead of straight out, it releases just fine.

Easily Replaces the Linking Mat
Color: Orange, Color: Orange
This slow feeder bowl has been a great upgrade from the flat lick mat I used before. The deeper design allows for so much more food, which is perfect for spreading soft foods like yogurt or peanut butter. The textured sides really help hold everything in place. It’s made of flexible silicone but still holds its shape well. I love that it comes with a mini spatula-a handy little bonus for spreading food. I’ve also put it in the fridge to freeze treats, and it works great for longer-lasting enrichment. The suction base keeps it securely on the floor, which is important because otherwise Maverick would absolutely try to run off with it! 😊 It’s also dishwasher safe (top rack), making cleanup easy. Overall, a well-designed, practical slow feeder that both my dog and I are happy with.

Best Balls Ever!!!
Size: Medium
These are the best balls ever! We have 2 very active ball loving dogs and these bounce very well and they actually hold up with active play and chewing. They still look brand new after daily use for months!

Finally a ball my power chewers cannot destroy
Size: Medium
I have two dogs, an American Bully and an American Pit Bull Terrier, and both of them love to chew. Most balls last a very short time around here before they are shredded or missing big chunks. This one has actually held up. They chase it, tug on it and sit and chew on it, and it is still in one piece with no pieces breaking off. One of my favorite things is being able to put food inside. I add some kibble or small snacks, and they will happily sit and work on it for a long time. It keeps them busy, gives them something safe to chew, and they get a little reward while they play. When they are done, I just rinse it out and it is ready to go again. If you have strong jawed dogs that usually destroy toys, this ball is worth trying. Mine really enjoy it and I feel better knowing they finally have a ball that can keep up with them.

My dog LOVES this ball
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
Does your dog destroy tennis balls in seconds? Yes? Then your dog NEEDS this ball! It's squishy like a tennis ball, fits in ball launchers (even the cheap ones) and bounces when it hits the ground. My dog has been literally playing with this ball all day and not a single mark on it! The only bad thing is that it does not float. Definitely worth the money! Put it in your cart!
