Product Description:
Pre-Ban has been developed for Florida residents subject to summer nitrogen blackouts and aligns with recommendations by the University of Florida’s Best Management Practices for Protection of Water Resources. In summary, you apply this product just prior to the blackout (late May), and it slowly releases nitrogen over the next 4 months to keep your lawn green while staying in compliance with local ordinances. However, ANYONE in ANY state can benefit from this technology. 

Many of you outside of Florida get busy in the summer and can’t get out in the lawn. This is where Pre-Ban can be useful to you as well. Apply it in the later spring and it will trickle out the nitrogen over the next 4 months while you are busy doing other tasks.

Florida Residents: Apply this product in May, prior to the blackouts, and it will deliver time-released nitrogen over the next 4 months.  This product was developed to comply with recommendations from the University of Florida, which states:

“If you live in an area where fertilization is prohibited from June through September, new controlled-release fertilizers have been developed that may be effectively used to prevent nutrient deficiencies during this period of maximum growth. … in mid-to-late May (look for a dry spell in the forecast), you may apply up to 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet of nitrogen if the label permits it, using a special slow-release fertilizer of 65% or more slow-release nitrogen (unless prohibited by local ordinance).” 

Yard Mastery’s 40-0-0 Pre-Ban is one of these new controlled-release fertilizers and is 100% controlled-release to trickle the nitrogen out evenly over 120 days during the blackout.

Because of this controlled-release technology, this fertilizer will NOT burn your lawn, even at the higher application rates, so don’t be scared!

40-0-0 Pre-Ban can be used any time of the year as long as the grass is actively growing. We market this product for Florida, but many of you in other parts of the country can benefit from long-lasting, slow-release nitrogen in your lawn.  Pre-Ban can be used on the following grasses:
