Its foliage is semi-juvenile, giving it a soft, touchable texture, and is often compared to Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Ellwood's Empire’—though ‘Empire’ shows medium blue-green coloring with bright lime or yellow-green new tips in spring, while Ellwoodii Cypress maintains a more consistent blue-silver tone year-round.
