A hemiepiphytic epiphyte that in nature hangs from tree branches and cliff faces in the perpetually moist forest understory, its extraordinary ribbon-like leaves cascading freely downward. Unlike the velvet-surfaced pendant species, A. vittariifolium carries a smooth, semi-glossy to glossy leaf surface — leathery, firm, and deep green, with a prominently raised midrib running the full length of each leaf. An elevated or hanging position is not merely preferred but functionally necessary — the leaves must hang freely to develop to their full length.
