Dunce Cap cuttings easily form roots even when no sign of roots are present and grow very quickly in the warm weather. You will notice air roots already formed on some of these cutting stems. If the variegation looks a little dull don't worry they do this when they go dry but are extremely hardy putting out lots of tiny air roots looking for water. As soon as they are re-hydrated the strong colours in the variegation returns. As they grow larger and put out many new offsets you will find some with extreme variegation too. They can also turn a lovely pink colour given less water as shown in images 1, 5 & 6.

Variegated Chinese Dunce Cap plants are very prolific, giving many offsets quickly from a single plant. They are fast growers in Spring Summer and Autumn going dormant over winter. They are frost hardy to -10°C and will survive being buried under snow as they do in China where they originate from. Though delicate they are much hardier than they look and are very easy to propagate even from the smallest offsets.

To propagate Variegated Chinese Dunce Caps from cuttings, simply remove offsets from the mother plant or take stem cuttings during the growing season. Ensure that the cuttings have sufficient roots, and plant them in well-draining soil in a small pot. Water sparingly until the cuttings establish themselves, and keep them in bright, indirect light. The cuttings should root quickly and start producing new growth within a few weeks.

Orostachys iwarenge var. boehmeri variegata - Variegated Chinese Dunce Cap Plant Description

The Variegated Chinese Dunce Cap, is a fascinating and unique succulent that will add an unusual touch to your indoor or outdoor garden. This cultivar of the Orostachys iwarenge plant species belongs to the Crassulaceae family and is native to China, Korea, and Japan.

The Variegated Chinese Dunce Cap's green leaves are edged in creamy white, which gives them a striking variegation pattern. The leaves are arranged in a spiral pattern that forms a cone or dunce cap shape, hence its common name. They are fleshy and triangular with a pointed tip and have a bluish-green color. The plant can grow up to 2 feet (60 cm) tall in late summer or early fall, producing a tall, slender stalk that bears small, star-shaped flowers ranging in color from pink to white.

This succulent is relatively easy to grow and care for, making it an excellent choice for beginners. It prefers bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. The plant is drought-tolerant and can survive long periods without water, but it should be watered sparingly during the growing season. Propagation is easy and can be achieved by separating the offsets that grow around the base of the plant.

Orostachys iwarenge var. boehmeri is a hardy succulent, able to survive temperatures as low as -10°C. It self-propagates through offshoots, forming a dense mat of many plants at a given time. This succulent is perfect for rock gardens, container gardens, or as an accent in a mixed succulent display.

Overall, the Variegated Chinese Dunce Cap is a stunning and unique plant that will add a touch of whimsy to any garden. Its unusual variegation pattern and cone-shaped leaves make it a conversation starter, and its ease of care and propagation make it a must-have for any succulent enthusiast.

Great Sequel to Long Halloween
Format: Paperback
This takes all of the great elements of the Long Halloween and keeps it going. The two of those books together is a great story telling. Ticks all the boxes of a great Batman book. If you like this and Long Halloween check out The Penguin show on HBO Max. and if you like The Penguin but haven't read these two books you should since the show pulls a lot of influence from them.

If Batman #666 is canon, then this collection is important.
I just read this Batman collection again and found a much greater appreciation for these stories than I did the first time around (not that they were all that bad to begin with). Of course, Grant Morrison's run on Batman has gone on another two years since Batman & Son, so reading this now allows you to put some added perspective on what's going on here. First of all, you have the introduction of Batman's son, Damien (this is not a spoiler, isn't it pretty obvious from the title?), who has since already gone on to a larger role in the DC Universe. I think some important take-aways from these initial issues of Grant Morrison's run are Damien's origins and his character/attitude. I believe that Damien's character is going to have a big impact on what happens with Batman (and Dick Grayson) in the near future. You also get a pretty unique Joker story, primarily told in text form. I really think Morrison shines in this kind of story-telling medium. Additionally, if you pay attention, there are definitely some clues in Batman & Son that foreshadow the next events in Morrison's saga. Lastly, there is issue #666. I don't want to give anything away about the story, but I have heard that Grant Morrison considers this to be part of the Batman canon (meaning that it is authentic to the whole Batman universe). If so, then in addition to the story, there are some particular frames that I think are going to be meaningful down the road For example, the one with Damien mourning over a Batman body and also the one from Damien's memory, showing three Bat-folk fighting crime together in the future. Overall, I have become very pleased with Grant Morrison's work on this title. Of the comics that I currently follow, he is surpassing them all in excellence, even beyond what Ed Brubaker is doing with Captain America. Once you read this collection, you will certainly want to go on to the next one.. Batman: The Black Glove.
