Anthurium regale is a Peruvian species that produces some of the largest foliage in the genus, with broad, heart-shaped, velvety leaves that can grow to well over a metre long in the right conditions. The surface is a deep, dark green with a soft velvet texture, overlaid with bold, silvery-white veining that becomes more prominent and impressive as the leaves increase in size. It is a terrestrial, non-climbing Anthurium that grows slowly but delivers something genuinely dramatic once established.

Origins

Native to the lowland rainforests of Peru, Anthurium regale grows terrestrially on shaded forest floors in warm, humid conditions at low to moderate elevations. It was relatively obscure in cultivation until recently but has become highly sought after for its sheer leaf size and vein contrast.

Soil and Substrate

Our Anthurium Premium Potting Mix is peat-free and formulated for demanding Anthuriums, combining bark, charcoal, coco husk, lava rock, and pumice for long-lasting structure and root aeration.

Wonderful Collection Showing a Kind of Poetic Mastery Unmatched, Unparalleled
Format: Kindle
The meditative quality, exquisite imagery and concise & precise use of language bolsters Wallace Stevens as one of the finest & greatest poets in 20th century. Wallace's control over English and more generally the poetic style itself are best represented in his group of poems The Man with the Blue Guitar. There are no self-indulgent, instinctive, overgrown lines seen in other poets' work such as Alan Ginsberg and Derek Walcott. And later generation of poets such as John Ashbery are greatly influenced by Wallace's work. This again indicates the immense value of this collection to global literature progression.

A great collection of poetry.
Format: Paperback
I first "discovered" Stevens from selections of some of his work being a part of this work on poetics I have. The quotes are, I suppose, for the oddity of discovering an artist that is more well known than I'll ever be. Great book to have if you're interested in how poetry made its move from constrained to open.

Stevens wrote, "She sang beyond the genius of the sea." He did the same.
Format: Kindle
Thank you to the publisher for an ebook copy of Stevens' work. My ancient paperback copy is now retired. As for the poetry: my respectful suggestion is to read it and not feel obliged to understand it. Reading a poem isn't a contest you have to win. Let the music of the words wash over you. Float. You don't have to bring anything to this party except your willingness to be surprised, the way you're sometimes surprised, on waking, by a dream you had. Happy reading, whatever you choose to read.

Corrected and cleaned up, Stevens shines
Format: Paperback
The corrections to the text of the 1954 Collected Poems are worth paying for, but the attractive, highly readable typeface and layout make this collection pleasantly readable as well as compelling. Stevens is one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, and in his corporate pin-stripe portliness he is also an inspiration to all of us basically nerdy, tweedy, non-Beat types who hope we possess a tiny spark of poetic genius. Romantic and post-romantic poetry is an argument between imagination and reality, and no one clarifies the terms of that argument better than Stevens.
