Philodendron Angel Eyes
Philodendron patriciae × Philodendron tortum

A cross of extraordinary botanical contrast — two climbing hemiepiphytes that represent near-opposite ends of the Philodendron leaf spectrum brought together in a single hybrid. Philodendron patriciae, the Chocó Colombian rarity named for Colombian botanist Patricia Velásquez, is defined by its remarkably long, narrow, pendulous, subtly quilted leaves that hang with an almost willow-like elegance from appressed-climbing stems, requiring high humidity and rewarding patience with some of the most architecturally refined pendant foliage in the genus. Philodendron tortum, from the Amazon basin, sits at the opposite extreme — its leaves deeply, radically dissected into a skeletal, feather-like arrangement of narrow segments that give the plant its common name of Skeleton Key Philodendron or Feather-leaf Philodendron, the blade reduced to a dramatic lacework of narrow lobes that becomes progressively more dissected and elaborate as the plant climbs. The 'Angel Eyes' cross synthesizes these two visual personalities — patriciae's elongated, graceful leaf form and narrow proportions influence the overall blade shape and pendant quality, while tortum's deeply incised, lobed, dissected character introduces cuts and sinuses into that elongated blade, producing leaves that are both long and narrow in the patriciae manner and dramatically lobed or fenestrated in the tortum tradition. The result is a leaf silhouette that genuinely earns the evocative cultivar name — deeply cut, elongated, with an openwork quality that catches light through its lobes in a way neither parent achieves. Individual seedling variation applies as with all open crosses, with some offspring leaning toward patriciae's smoother pendant elegance and others toward tortum's more radical dissection.

A tall moss pole or trellis is essential — both parents are appressed climbers and the hybrid produces progressively larger, more dramatically structured leaves as it ascends. Provide bright indirect light; patriciae in particular benefits from good light to develop the fullest pendant leaf size, and tortum's dissected character also becomes more pronounced with adequate light. Water when the top 1-2" of medium approaches dryness in a chunky, open aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage. Humidity of 60-75% supports the best growth — patriciae's high humidity requirements moderate somewhat in hybrid expression but the plant still benefits significantly from consistent moisture in the air. Maintain warm temperatures between 65-82°F. Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.

Very nice gift necklace
Color: 10-Oct-Lab Grown Pink Sapphire, Style: L
Honestly - I found this to be of equal quality to the well known brand necklace of the same type (birthstone and initial) that I also bought - and this one cost less. It looks lovely. It made a great gift for my niece. The chain is quite delicate - but most of them are, these days. I definitely recommend for the younger ones in your life - teens on down. It was a big hit.
