Summary: The regal “King Anthurium” brings grand, rippled jungle-green leaves to your space, offering a lush tropical focal point and easy care for European indoor environments.
✨ Why You'll Love the Anthurium Veitchii
- Also known as the “King Anthurium”—celebrated for its dramatic, ribbed foliage.
- Large, pendulous leaves with striking veins—perfect for adding bold texture.
- Slow to moderate grower—ideal for maintaining manageable indoor dimensions.
- Medium plant (~25 cm tall in a 12 cm pot)—easily fits on shelves, plant stands, or side tables.
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light; avoid direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorch. Ideal for kitchens, living rooms, or well-lit bathrooms.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil lightly moist—water when the top 2 cm is dry. Prefers high humidity (50–70%). Mist regularly or use a pebble tray or humidifier, especially during dry German winters.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Repot every 1–2 years using a chunky, free-draining mix (e.g., orchid bark + peat moss + perlite). Upgrade to a 12–15 cm pot as roots fill the current container.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
**Toxic if ingested**—keep out of reach of pets and children.*
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Evergreen climbing vine; may develop aerial roots over time. Propagate via stem cuttings in high-humidity conditions for successful rooting.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
- Spring–Summer: Active growth—feed lightly with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
- Fall–Winter: Growth slows—reduce watering and skip fertilizer to prevent overfeeding.
🐛 Common Issues
- Brown leaf tips—often caused by low humidity or inconsistent watering.
- Yellowing leaves—may indicate overwatering; ensure excellent drainage.
- Pests like spider mites—inspect regularly and gently wipe leaves to keep them at bay.
🧬 Botanical Background
Endemic to Colombia’s cloud forests, Anthurium Veitchii—also known as the “King Anthurium”—is loved for its luxurious, velvety foliage with deep venation, bringing majestic rainforest vibes to any European home.
